I’m begining to hear from a few others about the bugginess of the 10bit codec. wish i’d known before i started this project. should i just use the send feedback option in the file menu?

February 17, 2006 at 1:45 pm in reply to: Help – Green noise around photoshop elements with Alpha channelIt seems that after a process of elimination and changing the PS files alpha channels to white (that tip thanks to Kevin Monahans book!) the corruption seems to occur only when i add the fcp drop shadow from the clips motion tab.
when i remove the drop shadow the elements render correctly…i am going to try and get our graphic designer to add the drop shadow in PS and reimport the file so i dont have to use the FCP dropshadow.
hopefully this will solve the issue for this particular project but i would like to know why FCP’s drop shadow would cause this corruption

hey Jeremy
your right i was watching an SD project…that’s what was the issue (obviously). id like to get hold of some HD footage though to test the usability of the cinema display as an interim low cost HD monitoring solution – until the monitors come down in price.

on monitoring….I always view for accuracy via an external monitor (that’s just a given)…however i was watching a project this weekend via the 23″ cinema display partly to just see what it would like in true 16:9 and also to test out the apple marketing-hype….
here’s what i noticed…the graphics from my 10bit timeline on output via the cinema display looked awful – dv style artifacts…generally yuck
if this is normal then how could anyone use this method for viewing HD or even SD projects as per the apple marketing spiel? it just seems a complete no go…meaning the HD CRT companies are not out of business yet!!
is this normal or am i doing something wrong?
