i know bizzaro….we have three G5’s, 1 G4 and a couple of laptops here and they are all being quite goofy! I’ve talked to boris tech support and they would only say follow the known limitations on the release notes and wouldn’t commit to a new version or even a proper fix.

it is frustrating…it works most of the time but really when you shell out the cash you hope it works as stated on the box. I wouldn’t have upgraded had I known the issues.

makes me wonderi if I still have the BCC 3 install disks around and go with version 3 untill this is sorted out.

glad to hear all is well in “wallyworld” 😉

what seems to be happening is that FCP is loosing which source to monitor the audio from. if i go into system pref under the apple menu and select internal speakers and then re select blackmagic audio the issue is resolved. but every time i leave FCP to go to the desktop or whatever this pref is lost and the audio is out of sync…going back to the sys prefs menu and repeating causes the audio to come back in sync

    hey walter

it may be a particularly bad issue with BCC 4 – which is what we are running with here. Yes it works (most of the time) if you remember to toggle the capslock on and off, but my keyboard doesnt have a light on the capslock key so its hard to know when you have and when you havent and then if you get it wrong it’s a crash to the desktop.

Generally it feels unstable and if you have to trash prefs (a fairly regular FCP ritual) you have to go through the whole BCC uninstall, reinstall process to get back up and running.

they are hoops because you pay good money for software and when it doesnt “just work” especially when it used to “just work” it is a frustration.

if your BCC 3 set up is working then that’s great…it seems the patch is directed mainly at BCC 4 and where all the engineering issues are.

spare those of in BCC 4 land a kind thought while you are living life in perfect ‘hoop-free harmony’ in BCC 3 🙂

there is indeed a patch….and it works but there are quite a few hoops to jump through and a new workflow to learn….it’s a pain in the butt and seems that Boris and Apple have some work to do to get the issues resolved…however, Boris tech support informed me that he couldnt tell me when a new release was planned or what features or in this cases bug fixes it would include.

it seems that for now you have to put up with the buggy performance….Sapphire anyone?

also consider that all your editors will have to learn new software, that in itself could result in a pretty major productivity hit. i’m of the opinion that if it aint broke dont fix it!

if everyone is comfortable in the PC world then stay there….premiere pro from all accounts seems like a pretty good solution for the PC if your ethically opposed to purchasing from the avid death star.

You could make it work undoubtedly, but is it worth the bump in the road…thats for you to decide
