Yes Ken I understand DF vs NDF. All I can tell you is that since I’m capturing NDF media and set things up in FCP to capture NDF my system is capturing perfectly and purrin’ like a kitten…
When the time comes for me to capture DF media i’ll change things accordingly.
    Cheers,

    Hi Ken,
So you’re saying even with the timeline options checked for “drop frame”, if I roll the tape a little before batch capture (even though the footage is Non-Drop)I should not get the warning?
After this project if I want to capture “Drop Frame” footage ,I will have to go back to Timeline options and audio/Video settings and change back device control presets to “Drop Frame”.
    Cheers,
    Paul

  • Hi Gary,
Actually the warning said: “You are about to capture Drop Frame media from a device currently detecting or configured for Non-Dropmedia. The 24Pa footage was shot with a Canon XL2. I use a Canon camcorder as the deck to capture.this deck does not shoot 24p but should not make a difference in capturing…should it?
What I did to capture is User Preferences:Timeline Options: UNchecked drop Frame. Also under Audio/Video settings: device control presets changed that to non Drop also. When I want to use 60i 29.97 footage I will have to change all the above back to drop frame..
    Cheers,
    Paul

  • Dan,under Audio/Video settings:Device control Preset Editor do you have Frame Rate set to 23.98 Non Drop Frame? That is if you are capturing 24P footage…
For me changing all th settings to Non drop Frame did the trick…
I just batch captured 20 more clips no pop up!…
    Best,
    Paul

  • To avoid that pop up: Go to FCP User Preferences: Timeline Options: Uncheck Drop Frame…(If you are capturing 24P or 24Pa footage..
    That’s it!
    Best,
    Paul

I figured it out! All you have to do is: Go to USER PREFERENCES:TIMELINE OPTIONS: if you are shooting 24P or 24Pa footage just UN-check Drop Frame. 24P footage is Non-Drop Frame. Now you d\won’t get that annoying pop-up “You are about to capture Drop Frame Media from a Device Currently Detecting or configured for Non-Drop Frame media”!
    Cheers…

  • I’m having the same problem!I’m getting that warning: you are about to capture NON-Drop Frame media from a device currently configured or detecting Drop-Frame media: Can you please tell me what you did to capture? I’m trying to capture 24Pa footage with a Canon camcorder as a deck.
    Thanks!
    Paul
