Don’t let FCP downscale the footage.
Do a downscale to SD in Compressor with the Frame controls ON. Resize filter to BEST.
That’s a HUGE difference in quality compared to FCP scaling. -
Premiere CS5 64 bit is great.
But the support for AJA/Decklink/Matrox sucks big time compared to FCP.

As long it’s PCI Express, there’s no issue. If not. it won’t fit.
There were PCI-X versions and PCI Express versions. -
If i’m not mistaken. The JVC shoots native quicktime movies in XDCAM EX codec.
So you shouldn’t not have to transfer/transcode anything. Just copy the files to your media drive, import in fcp and edit.

Motion has a realtime engine.
After effects has a buffer engine.After effects is a mature and professional program that can do anything.
Motion is more realtime, intuitive, creative, fast, good roundtripping with FCP.Both are great side by side or stand alone.

Just don’t do it. Why upgrade snowleopard if you still have FCP 5. Doesn’t make ANY sence to me.

You really need something like Compressor to do a proper HD to SD downscale.
Compressor has Frame Controls. SEtting the resize filter to BEST will create good looking SD footage.
So you export selfcontainted from fcp/fce
Open in compressor. Choose DVD Mpeg2 preset. Change the Frame controls. -

Soundtrack has lot of potential. But it’s far from finished compared to pro tools, logic, or nuendo.
I hope the next FCP will have all soundtrack pro plugins implemented.
The quality of the logic pro/soundtrack pro plugins is awesome so that would be nice.
