No, internal drive only. Though I think an external drive was probably connected at all times. The internal drive is partitioned so I have one 10.6.8 startup disk and one 10.10.4 (in order that I can still use some older software).

I replaced the internal HD a couple of months ago, so it should be good… maybe I’ll try using Libraries on an external drive and see what happens.

Thanks Noah – I just tried that, but it didn’t seem to make a difference. Same behaviour. Although FCP did lock up (SBBOD while trying to import media) on its first post-re-install run, so I’ll give it another shot

No, no After Effects I’m afraid. But the Pegasys thing sounds worth pursuing – I’d have to sort out a Windows installation on one of my Macs but that’s a pretty trivial step now that everything’s gone Intel.

Ah, thanks Jeremy – shame it’s a $500 solution, but it’s a solution nonetheless! As long as I get to use it more than once I guess that’s money well spent…

    Hi Jeremy,

That doesn’t work for me – as soon as I change Video Format to ‘HD 1920×1080’ the CBR option is greyed out, or changes to VBR if it was already selected. Have you definitely been able to do this with 1920×1080 video?

    Hi Chris,

I’ve been changing settings on either a Saved As copy of an original, or the dragged copy attached to the file I’m encoding in the main window – still can’t select CBR.
