I know the black burst is getting power because there is a light on it, but the AJA converters dont have any light anywhere that I can see so Im not sure how to tell if its lost power, Im not sure why it would have lost power and the way that it gradually went out over the course of 2 months tells me it isnt power. I need to just rent a deck with SDI I guess and go down the line and find out where the signal goes out…

    Hey Walter,

Ya Ive been using the same Burst Electronics sync box for years now, but just recently I lost my SDI signal in and out of my Kona 3. Im still trying to find out what the issue is, its looking like its the black burst box. Bummer is i dont have any SDI gear here to test my signal all the way down the line, so Im kind of stabbing in the dark here….its either the black box or two different AJA converters went out at the same time(what are the odds of that) as I cant get a signal in or out of the Kona SDI i/o (I do get component out however). Thks again…..Ill figure this out sooner or later….

I just went through this, if your working in a 29.97 timeline then the graphics need to be also 29.97.\

Thks, I figured it was the frame rate….I had them send me the AE projects and i will export them.

Ive tried rendering it to lower, upper, none….same issue…Im really thinking its the frame rate, although ive gotten stuff like this before in FCP5 and never had this issue.

Its a file rendered out of AE using the animation codec, 720×480, and 23.98…..uhhh….23.98fps…shouldnt that be 29.97…thats gotta be the issue no? The reason i dont want to do that is because when the cut is finished I would like to move the whole thing, shot in SD DV, to an uncompressed timeline to get my graphics to render cleaner.

    Hey Kevin,

Thks for the response, at least now I dont feel like Im just being absent minded about something, which is always possible. Im stumped on this one, never seen it before with FCP 5, the really odd thing is that it plays fine in the source monitor before rendering in any timeline….its just once FCP gets its hands on transcoding it, it goes to hell. Let me know if you guys figure out whats going on and if there is a fix. Ill do the same on my end…good luck.
