I’m using DVDA 5.2. I’m told that all re writable disks can only write very slowly like 1x or 2X.

I opened the same blank re-writable disk into Ashampoo’s Burning suite & this program recognized the disk & told me it’s speed etc.

I’m still puzzled as to why DVDA on one hand says that I have a BR-RE in my burner yet if I press the finish button it asks me to insert a disk. Also the erase options are all grayed out. You don’t have to format these disks do you?

I should have also mentioned that although 3 different erase options are displayed they are all greyed out.

This disk is listed as only being 2 speed as I understand all re-writable Blu-ray disks are very slow. Why then does it display speed options up to 24x?

Thanks once again for the suggestions about the fader’s but once again this didn’t fix the problem.

I have even copied the audio out of the second instance of the Vegas project that did have audio & tried pasting it back into the main problem project. Still no audio.

At this stage I think that I can save a lot of time both yours & mine if I just stick with the second instance version of the project as it was almost finished.

If its possible to make every clip on the timeline be set to match the ‘output aspect ratio’ I could render out the project in minutes. Please let me know if this is possible. I will be interested to see how the Blu-ray version of this works out.

A few years ago I went to China with a group & I ended up making a SD DVD of a 40 minute file make entirely out of still photo’s with music added. I needed to put this onto a dual layer disk because I had both a 4×3 & 16×9 version on the same disk. Since the disk still had room left over I added an extra folder with contained all of the original media as well as the Veg file & DAR file. So it was very quick to set the project up for Blu-ray. Its a pity that extras can’t be added to the Blu-rays as well. The closest that you might come if your project wasn’t too large would be to just add your original clips to end of main file.

I think that I should just write off this experience as being the ‘perversity of inanimate objects’.

Exactly what do you mean by audio devices? If its in options>preferences>audio device then that area gives you 3 choices. I have just tried all 3 again & I still can’t hear the audio. Which option should I be using? The new instance that I opened has Microsoft classic wave driver selected & that works in that instance.

I using Vegas pro 10 64 bit. The only unusual thing about this project is that I have fade to color envelope on it. This appears to be working. If I knew just how to delete it I could easily leave it off.

I have just tried using the trimmer as you suggested with a clip dragged from project media & this had audio.

I have also copied the entire project & pasted it into a new instance of Vegas & this appears to have the audio. One strange suspicious thing is that the new instance doesn’t have the fade to color envelope line across the clips.

I would also like to know if its possible to make every clip on the timeline be set to match the ‘output aspect ratio’. Can this be done to all clips at once.

How do I play the file if it doesn’t have a button on it?

I had assumed that a first play file would just start as soon as it was put into the Blu-ray player & this is exactly what happens,but the entire time it’s playing I can see a button highlight on the screen.

I should have asked in the previous posting if I should have had the the files on totally different menus or would this be necessary if I ever have to put 2 different files with different frame sizes or resolution onto the same disk?

I have the first play working OK except for when I preview I see my video with a highlight for a button. Since I didn’t put a button onto the clip I can’t see how to eliminate the highlighting.

On the preview stage I see that one video says it won’t need to be re rendered & the other video will. The files are exactly the same format & I have confirmed it with the media info tool. If I just have one of these files at a time in the project they both are said not to need re rendering. I’m puzzeled over why this should be so?

{Why would you use 24p? Did you shoot it in 24p with your camera?}

I just assumed that because the final Blu-ray disk would be progressive the there should be less work left for DVDA to do.
