  • Setting up DVDA menus for Blu-ray

I would like to have DVDA play a small introductory video & then finish on the main option page. This main screen would give you 3 different small video projects as well as scene selection menu which would take you to different pages if you know what I mean. This would mean 3 play all as well as 2 scene selection menu’s on this page.

Is this possible? If so how do I set it up?

Could the 3 files me made up of 3 different compliant video formats that would not require re rendering? I tried having 3 different compliant formats on the same disk but I didn’t try burning because the optimize button said 2 would need to be re rendered.

    Thanks in advance

[Paul Gregory] “I would like to have DVDA play a small introductory video & then finish on the main option page.”

It sounds like you want to insert “First Play” media. This will play when your disc is inserted before any menus. That’s how you would put a Copyright Warning on your DVD for example. Use the yellow + button to add this:

The answer to your questions is “Yes you can” so your three files must not have been DVD compliant otherwise they would not require re-rendering.

I have the first play working OK except for when I preview I see my video with a highlight for a button. Since I didn’t put a button onto the clip I can’t see how to eliminate the highlighting.

On the preview stage I see that one video says it won’t need to be re rendered & the other video will. The files are exactly the same format & I have confirmed it with the media info tool. If I just have one of these files at a time in the project they both are said not to need re rendering. I’m puzzeled over why this should be so?

    Thanks in advance

I should have asked in the previous posting if I should have had the the files on totally different menus or would this be necessary if I ever have to put 2 different files with different frame sizes or resolution onto the same disk?

    Thanks in advance

I’m not sure I follow you. If you don’t have a button, how will people play it?

Me too. If the files will not be re-rendered in separate projects, they should not need to be re-rendered when placed in the same project. I just tested this with 4:3, 16:9 and 24p footage and all three do not need to be re-rendered in the same project.

What frame sizes are you talking about? If the disc is NTSC the only frame size is 720×480. If it’s PAL the frame size should be 720×576.

How do I play the file if it doesn’t have a button on it?

I had assumed that a first play file would just start as soon as it was put into the Blu-ray player & this is exactly what happens, but the entire time it’s playing I can see a button highlight on the screen.

    Thanks in advance
