No misunderstanding. THe MacPro came with a RAID controller card.

Question: What problem(s) would we run into if we kept the MacPro formatted as it is, one big volume on one RAID? In other words, why shouldn’t we have the OS, the apps and the media files all residing on the same volume on the RAID? Is it a question of performance?

May 31, 2007 at 10:13 pm in reply to: 16×9 dvd from 4×3 video?

Thank you to everyone for the responses, and apologies about the search. I did do one but I never seem to have much luck with the search function on Creative Cow.

In any case, it does appear that trying to convert the footage to 16×9 is a royal pain, and that making the 4×3 dvd and allowing the monitor to add bars is the way to go.

Again, thanks, and if anyone has any other suggestions or tips, i would love to read them. I have not worked in 16×9 at all and it is a bit frightening.

Can anyone explain the difference between pci-x and pci-e? When would you use one and when the other?

Wow! Seems like pretty universal acclaim for the CalDigit products. I have to say I’m leaning in their direction.

One further question. On doing a system profile, it appears that I already have a Sonnet Tempo-X SATA 4+4 card installed on my G5. This surprised me. Guess the computer came loaded with it?

Anyone know if this’ll work with the CalDigit SATA-RAIDS (or those of other manufacturers)?
