Anyone used the Panasonic HC-X1000 4K?
I’m wondering if it would make sense to move up to 4k, since it is basically 2017.

Thank you, Jeff! I was actually just looking at that first camera on the B&H website, attracted by the 1″ sensor.
Have you been using it in low-light situations?

I prefer to talk to users first, then salespeople. You might be able to figure out why if you think about it. -
I’m in the same boat as the OP. I am the entire video department at an ad agency in Manhattan. I am also desperately in need of a large and protected (i.e. RAID) storage system for video files.
Since I am the only editor, it doesn’t need to be networked storage.
So, keep the suggestions coming. Thank you!

here in NYC i have yet to meet a professional editor who plans to use FCPX. In fact, most haven’t been willing to buy it to try it out. They all seem to be planning an eventual switch to Premiere or Avid, just as we are at my company.

We’re sticking with FCP 7 for now.
I have two new 12-core Mac towers coming and am excited to experience the speed boost from the dual-core i’m now running on.
I wish I could put a new Final Cut Pro 8 on the new machines, but alas, Apple decided to make FCP X instead, and it just won’t work in our editing environment.
At some point, we will have to switch to a new application. Premiere, or Avid or something else. Were going to have to give it some though and run some trial software.

for the first time in my life, i’m contemplating the purchase of a PC as my home computer. never thought i’d see this day. well, actually, i knew Jobs couldn’t last forever, so I did know that at some point Apple would lose its way again.
