    Thanks Jeff,

The Avid “project type” is 1080i/59.94 & “raster dimension” is 1280×1080.

What is really puzzling is that when I edit a clip from tape 1 Qt of an interview not only go I get the green dot but I neglected to mention that the Timeline says 29.96 fps (?) Start a new seq with a Qt clip from the part 2 interview tape, no green dot. I hear you Jeff about the green dot but if all the material is uniform (tbd) and the project type is set correctly to match, there should not be any speed jive in the TimeLine right?

What is adding to the spookiness is that I had the green dot & 29.96 fps TL display with two different Seq tests in a row using intv tape 1, and now with no changes to the proj settings I just repeated the process with a new sequence and ….no green dot!

Yes I’m only knee deep in trouble shooting this and I don’t have access to the facility or their people this weekend but in these tests FCP has been a champ and MC (that I’d like to edit with) has been bizzaro.

I got this error, it seemed to be the result of renaming the Western Digital drive the project lived on. Never would have figured it out but for this post on an Adobe forum & someone else pointing to a renamed WD drive.

After Effects CS3 error: file not found -43 and TIFFIO failed to open the file It appears that there is a problem with AE reading files on a USB external hard drive. Specifically, a WD pocket drive.

By renaming the Qt’s do you find AE skips them and relinks to what is left, like the non-Qt files?

Dave that felt like a dressing down, I’d like to keep it cordial. I think have some perspective on it from using AE since COSA v2 and doing visual efx with 2″ tape since 1976. I guess I’m lobbying/seeking for a better way as we’re on AE9.

Again I did not make this mess, I inherited it.

    Thanks Chris & Dave,

It would appear that there are several dozen Qt’s with dependencies that involve (to find them) opening the proj, AE looks for and can’t find movie data, gives up saying it can’t link 200 files. Then you try to manually relink to a gfx file, AE then reports on another Qt with missing data, repeat process several dozen times just to determine the problem movs that need (solid) replacing. No fault of yours but it just seems crazy.

As to the replace script, not sure how that is an improvement on control-clicking the problem moov (discovered one at a time via the above torturous process) and saying “replace with solid”

    Thanks,

    Paul

That’s great Michael thanks, wasn’t looking forward to the prospect of modifying clips individually.

November 3, 2010 at 8:12 pm in reply to: batch process many multi-page pdfs

I’ve done some research and came across some promising leads (not using PS) but they haven’t panned out.

I’d prefer to do this in Photoshop but I don’t know how automate telling it to open & save *every* page as a jpeg.

People in another forum and suggested Acrobat Pro. Using Acrobat Pro 9.0 (multi-page) export works but text gets funky. Not sure why since the same Mac (with Photoshop) will open a given page (manually selected) and do a beautiful job with text on the same pdf. The other challenge is to master Acrobat Pro’s batch sequence process which I would try to learn but for the funky text.

Others suggested Apple’s Preview “File>Print>PDF>Save PDF to iPhoto”
Preview loses the file name in the process (which Acrobat Pro retains adding a page# suffix) but the text looks fine.

Someone offered some javascript route but it appears to be way over my head.

Thanks in advance for any Photoshop (CS3 or CS4) batch suggestions.

    Paul
