I seem to remember having this problem at some point. But not for some time.
From memory in this case, I tracked it back to disc damage…Have you tested it from a different cd?
Or perhaps copy the track to your drive first to see if its bringing it in directly
off the disc that your set up is having the problems with.Cheers

Damn, sorry Jim I can’t remember…
It was the very last driver on the list that comes up when you have a missing driver error message via the XDCAM transfer s/w. But of course now that I no longer have an error warning that comes up I cant check to see which one it was.

Sure. It should be quicker than real-time to import files.
Are you importing them from a reader or a camera? Sometimes importing from a camera creates issues. Maybe try copying it to your HD somewhere first. Hopefully copying them to your local drive won’t take longer than real-time.

I love this forum. Simple! Thanks Dave problem solved.
There has been a missing driver warning showing up in the XDCAM transfer opening for a little while but I’ve ignored it up until now because everything was actually working fine. But with a recent OSX upgrade this changed – so by simply installing that it works! Doh!

Brilliant! Thanks Murray – this one works! Now I can see if eliminate the version of the s/w as the problem – or not?

Hi Floh, thanks for your response.
He’s shooting on a Sony EX3 camera which as you will no doubt know records XDCAM to SXS cards. So I’ll probably be bringing them into the suite using the Sony SXS reader.
For some other projects I’ve actually been shooting stuff on the EX3 @ 720p 50 just to match the settings on the M100 suite input setting, but now that I know sony doesn’t recommend this (whatever that means) I’m looking at going back to 25 but as I say cant see it in the M100 input settings.
I’ve sorta been using 720p for drive space and cause it’s all non-broadcast industrial stuff, this seems to be keeping clients happy at this point.

Yes all that stuff about story is indeed true. There’s no way around this.
On a nuts’n’bolts level – truth if you’re budget for edit software is $150 your best bet is to sick with what you’ve got and try to find some software that will transcode your footage into a codec you can work with.
Any edit software you buy for $150 will only place you in a world of pain.
Also, seems you are working on a PC. Pretty sure M100 only does a mac version.

October 21, 2010 at 9:02 am in reply to: ex3 with standard def lens, much more balanced/quality greatTHis looks pretty cool and I see from the website the system also allows for a matt box set up. Hmm, wonder if it’ll allow for the cavision mbox set up.
It’d be great to see some shots with it on someone’s shoulder, looking through the eyepiece, because It looks like you’d still have that issue where you sorta get all cramped up and have to crink your neck upwards awkwardly (as in looking skyward(ish) – if you get what I mean) to account for the eyepiece and the shoulder pad being located too close together.
But it’s a bit of a catch 22 because if you locate the shoulder pad too far back to create better access to the eyepiece, you’ll end up throwing out the balance.
Does any of this making sense to anyone?
Hmm, I guess this is just one if the design trade offs of a smaller camera vs a ENG styled camera.
Although this rig looks like a step in the right direction – one of the better one’s I’ve seen.Cheers

October 19, 2010 at 11:13 am in reply to: ex3 with standard def lens, much more balanced/quality greatI have a cavision mattbox setup with hand grips and a Libec zoom controller located on one of the grips.
I haven’t shot for “long” periods of time with the camera on my shoulder (well not without having time in-between shots/set ups). SO at the moment I just rest it against the front of my shoulder. I do have the cavision shoulder rig that hooks onto the tail end of the mbox rails, but to be honest I find it a bit awkward
So I haven’t actually nailed a decent set-up for long periods of sustained hand-held use for the EX3.
