Use P2 viewer to copy to an external drive, then use “link to AMA volume” in avid.

I have the camera in front of me. Go into the user menu. You should have the choice of “SD card read/write” or “Scene”. If not go into the main menu by holding the menu button down for 5 sec, you will find these choices under the “file” menu. In the scene menu, go to scene select and push the dial, now you can change which scene you want 1-4. Push the dial button again. Move down to read or write and push the dial button. Answer yes or no. SD card works the same way.
    Where are you getting stuck?

You either read a file off a SD card, and load those settings into the camera (painting, matrix, gamma ect…). Or write a file, and save your camera settings to a SD card. You can have 8 files on a card, and 4 files in the camera. Plus you can load the default settings. The are many scene files on the Panasonic website that you can download for the 2700 with instructions.

  • You should see both cards as two separate drives on a PC. You may have a hardware conflict with another drive “DVD”. Go into disk administration and see if there is a conflict. Use P2 Viewer to look and copy your clips. I use both PC and MAC and find the PC much better.

No you shouldn’t need anything else, however you will be limited with only one card and having to use it to transfer. I have been using a camera for about a year, but we now have the 5 card reader for ingest, much better. Why not get the 170 and two cards. If you are shooting HD with one 32gig you are looking at 30-40 min of record time. Avid will play native P2 files so that is not an issue. I have even edited right of the camera (SD) and output back to tape. Needed a fast edit for a show.

The PCD35P comes with a PCI Express board that you have to install in your computer. We just put one in a PC and works great. But I don’t see how it would work in a laptop.

I just did a shoot with the HPX2000. I loaded in the “Vivid” scene file and was able to pull a very nice (quick) key in Avid using spectra-matte. I don’t recall what the gamma was set at.

Can you play the clip in P2 Viewer? Is the clip spanning the cards?

The easiest way on a MAC is to pre-create your folders first. Then locate your card/folder with your clips using the button with the 3 dots in the source window. select which clips you want and use file/export.
