Two to three seconds of lag is fairly noticeable. I think we’d have many folks complaining. I see no difference between VP12, 13 or 14. All start playing almost instantly. Something must be up in the settings or your drive. I believe you and at at least one other are seeing the problem, but I’m doubting it is a problem for everyone.
If you’re not seeing the problem on V12 or 13 then something has changed somewhere.
Does this happen on all your drives and all your raw footage?

Lag time for me in VP14 is less than 1 second. Maybe half or quarter of a second. Same in VP13. I’m running a i7-3930 6 core CPU and using a USB 3.0 external drive source for my footage and with Vegas running on my SSD main drive.
Naturally, if the external drive goes to sleep .. it does take time to wake it up — but once awake, we are off to the races.
Lots of factors here, I’d say including the type of files, effects, preview window, graphic card, dynamic ram — etc etc. I’m not sure which things matter in this type of lag. I just know I”m not seeing it in VP14.

September 24, 2016 at 10:11 pm in reply to: OK. The race to upgrade to 14 begins. What’s everyone’s impressions?I just loaded the Trial Version of Vegas Pro 14 .. I like it so far. Seems solid. My old .veg files from Version 13 loaded just fine. I tried the Velocity envelope and it worked great with speeds of up to 1000% .. way better than V13.
BUT — I cannot use my PluralEyes plugin !! .. This is a serious bummer as I rely on PluralEyes to sync my “wild” sound done on my H1 Zoom recorder. All my iZotope stuff works which is great.
I wanted to try out the Mercalli V4 stabilizier .. and the NewBlue stuff that comes with VP14 but the trial is lacking them. If I really liked the Mercalli it would help me make up my mind to upgrade .. $249 is a steep upgrade price for us older users who are use to paying about $100 less for a Vegas Upgrade.
I will report more as I work with the trial.

Create a subclip. Stabilize that.

I see it. Hopefully they will give us fair warning and some sort of transition or some way of keeping all those very very valuable and searchable posts.

Set your ripple edit to ALL tracks, markers and regions. That might be the problem.

April 5, 2016 at 11:41 pm in reply to: how can i set the same time to several photos to create a slideshow ?That’s a neat thing Mike. I use it too.
But most of the time folks wanting a certain length are doing it to match music. There are sometimes better ways than stretching out or tightening up a limited number of visuals to match in a mechanical kind of way .. but, although apparently Vegas handles things different than Premiere .. it does handle this as long as the events are stills ..

If I’m understanding your problem … Make sure your render template is the same as your project properties. Vegas can render in a different format than the timeline. For example your footage is 1080p and you want to make a Standard Def DVD. You can render the 1080p timeline to 480p. If you want the same format as your timeline, make sure you have the correct render template or you can create a custom template to match.
