Thanks everybody for the help!
I just tried Kevin’s suggestion of creating a new user and to try opening the files.
and it WORKED!
that is awesome!
Kevin did you end up moving all of your preferences, presets, plugins…basically everything over? And then delete the old user? Or did you go back and forth?
Thanks so much for the help! I was on a big time crunch and that just saved me alot of work & time.

I wish I could say I was using a third party download. But nope.
Is it possible that I have a virus? is that even possible on a mac?

Ok, cool. I just tried all of that list. But now, when I try to open up my project it says:
After Effects warning: Unable to import file ‘x.aep’ as a project.

This has been happening quite a bit this past week.
I’ll export NTSC DV (3:2) 720 x 480 footage at 29.97fps from Final Cut Pro as a quicktime .mov file.
Then import in to AE CS3 and drag it to create a comp with it’s settings. And it works great. No 3d, just pretty basic editing right now. Then the next day I try to open up the AE project and the errors keep popping up
After effects error: reading from file (784) (3 :: 122)
or After effects error : file cannot be imported –files of type “MooV are not supported.(which I have double checked and confirmed that I am exporting Self Contained .mov files.)
The weirdest part about this whole thing is that the next day after I tried to open a project and it wouldn’t let me because of those errors. When I tried opening it the next day…IT WORKED. after I did nothing to it.
But now it’s happening all over again, and I need to find answers because I am in a real crunch.
Paul.
by the way, thanks dave. you’ve been a big help in the past

When you are in final cut and you change the speed, just deselect the frame blending option.
Hope that helps!

Hey guys thanks for all the help!
I backtracked through the after effects comps, and realized that it definitely wasn’t an AE problem. I moved over to Final Cut Pro, and randomly realized that my frame blending was on in FCP!
So I turned it off, and it was fixed!
Thanks SO much for all the help!

“This could be a symptom of separating the fields incorrectly. What is your source footage?”
I shot it with a Varicam at 48fps then converted it in Final Cut Pro to
960×720 (1.33)

Hey I know this is big,
but it’s the only way I could figure it out,
It looks like it’s trying to blend the frames together,
even though I don’t have the frame blending selected…SPECS:
