It’s 25 FPS. Didn’t know about this frame drift issue. How do you correct it?

    thanks,

    Thanks guys, really helpful.

Just another quick question on this: when I did a test importing at 10:1, 15:1 and 20:1 with DV (not DVCam) I found that the audio had dropped out of sync. Is this normal with DV and would this not happen with DVCam (which I believe has a picture-audio lock)?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Mark,
Thanks for that. Just showing my utter naiveness I didn’t realise there were scopes in AVID MC. Right, time to reach for the instruction book I think… time to do some reading!

Thanks Mark. Yeh, understand what you’re saying – it’s just fairly early days for me on all this and don’t have the resources at present to invest in a scope. Want to make my short film as professional as possible just using AVID. Been bitten with illegal colours on an earlier project so know what you’re saying in terms of getting this right. If the safe colour limiter is mostly effective then that will be good enough for me at the moment before I possibly get more kit in the future,

    Michael,
Thanks very much for that, really helpful. Yes, it’s a 16:9 SD project so that all makes sense. I think where I’ve come a bit of a cropper here is that I’ve got a couple of shots which rely on the audience reading text that goes right to the edges. If they can’t read it then a key plot point is missed. Only way to make sure that it’s read would therefore be to bring in the sides a bit, kind of within the title safe box. Live and learn I guess!!
    Thanks again,
    Paul

    Thanks Bouke,
Yeh, I know rendering and playing out is always an option, but I’m one of those people who gets hung up if I don’t understand why things work or don’t work when they should. I get worried that things might go wrong if I don’t understand the underlying principles. But take your point.

Don’t have a scope, just know it’s illegal because flickers on a monitor on the cuts.

It’s just weird that it doesn’t render. Feel I’m missing something here…

    Micahel,
Many thanks for looking into this in such detail. I’ll have a look into new user settings first I think and see if I have any joy. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks again,
    Paul
