Thanks for your responses. One last question. Can the Media100 systems that are currently 8.1.1 be safely upgraded to the 8.2.3 which worked nicely on the machine that already had 8.2.1.

I’ve just become a little paranoid and I’d hate to mess something up that would require a complete reinstall.

Thanks again for your help. The help here is priceless.

    Cheers. 🙂

Hmm.. free upgrade…nice. Is there a link on their site or should I just call them. Their tech support which I’m sure we have no longer paid for is expensive and seems elusive.. maybe just my lack of effort.

also, you mentioned synched audio clips… alright.. what if I unsych them.. then can I create a composition or something?

One of the main reasons I’m wondering about all of this is that I’m helping out with a high school TV studio and the kids audio is all over the place.. VO…. CD music…. ambient…and the levels are wacko.. thought that their might be a better way than chasing the levels in the track/clip audio mixer.

    Any good tutorials on this?

I can tell you one thing… I have a lot to learn and am learning a lot about audio.

Thanks for all of your help. The COW rocks.

Thanks for the replies.. we have it on two systems and it’s greyed out on the other two….LE…. LX or something.

On the systems that have the audio effects menus I seem to only be able to select the equalizer and not others… is there a trick or are the dynamics options only available on the more expensive versions.

I was hoping to normalize and compress audio and just make it simpler.

I suppose the XR is the only option, is this available for the LE and the LX?

Also, we are running 8.2.1 how high.. if any.. can we upgrade?

Speaking of 3D apps… I’ve spent a fair amount of time learning 3DSMax or Max.

Then when I started watching Aahron’s tutorials he strongly recommends Cinema 4D. Though not be any means an expert in 3DSMax having spent a couple of summers working with it would you recommend the change to Cinema 4D due to the tight integration with After Effects?

The thought of learning more and more apps is daunting and I’ve relegate myself to only doing so if necessary. Trying to do it all … I usually get nothing done.

Thanks for your reply. I think that it takes time to realize/understand the capabilities of what an application can and can’t do.

Of course that is also what leads to hours of confusion and what makes a resource such as the COW invaluable.

I’ve read many of your tutorials and posts and really appreciate your work.

    Thanks

Thanks for your replies, but I did do both of those searches and the results after an hour or so of searching are nil. I am aware of the fact that I could change anchor points and try that so maybe I will play around with that.

There’s another ad campaign on TV where the person walks from room to room and they are in their living room, then walk into a shoe store and then in a club etc., the rooms raise up ( pop up) around him and etc. Not sure if it’s HP or not. They have an ad where someone moves everything with their hands…maybe you’ve seen them.

I know I’m mentioning tons of topics so will stop rambling. I’m sure in days to come there will be others wondering about this too.

    Thanks again for your responses.

It was an actual after effects project…if you’d like I could send it to you.

I couldn’t help responding… there were some free after effects projects given out a time ago and it had a 2d…growing flower effect. It is kind of neat… may not be what you’re looking for but who knows.

    Just a thought.

It might be creating a .mt2 file but to tell the truth all I want is a .mpg file.

Can you elaborate on the workflow on the mac side for making a .mpg file.

Here’s what I was doing I was exporting the .mov file from After Effects using the Animation codec and then I just open compressor (2.01) and drag and drop it onto the batch window.

Then from the “Setting” column I click on the drop down and select the ” Work Dammit MPEG2 ” setting that I created using the Inspector. I select the file format as MPEG-2 and it gives the extension as mts. What in the? So I try and change it to mpg but it won’t.

It processes it and lays a big useless file turd on me. Everyone says use compressor for good results. Is this a joke. I have the whole final cut studio and I don’t use it very often, so hence my problems.. but I’ve heard people rave about and recommend it.

    Help.

It gives me a mts file that when I double click on it Quicktime says, “this is not a movie file”. Not a movie file. I setup all the settings and you don’t give me a movie file.

It doesn’t make any sense. Any, super straighforward tutorials on mac software out there.

When I render it out, it is 3 files… an audio .ac3 a .m2v file and some mts.

Pretty confusing… but basically no audio on my video.

I’m hoping for a .mpg file of the highest quality I can get with audio.

I’ll keep trying. Thanks again for any help.
