I’m not necessarily looking for just color film looks. I’m also looking for a way to make HDV footage look more like film.

Yes, I am on a mac. But why should the effect have different parameters? The effect doesn’t work nearly as well without those two parameters.

Thank you. It did help a little. I guess it is just the nature of the logo. I may try putting the logo on an oval shape background and spin that, kind of like a coin. Thanks for you help.

No, the problem isn’t that. The problem is that each end of the logo looks completely different because the logo is offset a little. There is one word on top of the other and they are offset (the top word is a little to the left and the bottom to the right). So when you look from the end of each side, one is higher than the other side so it looks like it jumps. Is there anyway that I could send you a file of the finished spin and maybe you could make a suggestion on how to make it a smoother transition?

My company is willing to spend the money on a hardware encoder if it will definitely give us better quality images. Do you have any experience with hardware encoders? Also, I tried the demo version of BitVice months ago when we were trying to fix an issue with pixelation within dissolves and it didn’t seem to fix that problem. I might just have the wrong settings or maybe it is the nature of working with stuff shot on HDV but I’ve run into this problem with the dissolves quite a bit.

Tom, can you please give me your insight?

Here is something else weird. If I put the clips into a HDV1080i60 timeline and slow them down to 50% and add a deinterlace filter with the upper field, the clip looks fine, then if I export that sequence out as a HDV1080i60 self contained movie and reimport it and then put it into the 8-bit uncompressed SD timeline, it looks OK. I don’t want to have to do this for every clip because I’m using lots of slo-mo, but it is strange that it worked.

I digitized HDV1080i60 and the timeline is 8-bit uncompressed.

I can view my timeline on my second 23″ cinema display, but I would really like to view it on my 42″ plasma. So I guess there is no way to do this.
