I gotta agree with Duke here. Ever since my move to version 14, the tracking sucks. Sometimes it tracks, sometimes it doesn’t. And on very simple stuff too. I am definitely noticing a difference between 12.5 and 14. Am I the only one?

There’s a lot of things that go into Arri’s image production, but, at a base level, I’d say it’s mostly about the color science and the math behind how that sensor interprets light.

March 8, 2017 at 11:10 pm in reply to: No audio scrub with Avid Artist Transport controllerThank you, Simon, for all your help.
First of all, you’re right, it DOES work, and I DO now have audio when using the Jog Wheel. THANKS!!
Here’s what I’ve noticed:
1) The Jog Wheel – You’re correct, this manual mapping of the Jog wheel, while allowing audio, does not work nearly as well for video as the default mapping. There is no speed control. ie moving the wheel rapidly does not cause the playhead to move faster. There is only one speed. Is there a cure for this? Multiple arrow keys perhaps? Why oh why can’t we get audio with the default mapping?!?! So frustrating.
2) Shuttle Wheel – For some reason, both the default Shuttle Wheel mapping and the custom mapping both produce audio. So, they both work in that regard. However, the default mapping has problems moving the playhead as it often will reset the playhead to the beginning of the project when switching directions. So, that’s out. I’ll go with the custom mapping for Shuttle control. So, I’d like to be able to switch between the custom and default mappings of the Jog Wheel. I’ve managed to setup 2 buttons, one for each, and that works fine, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to map the OFF state of the Soft Buttons, so that I can have the default Jog Wheel mapping used when a soft button is off, and have the custom mapping in effect when it’s on. Any ideas there?
Thanks again for your help on this.

I’ve done this mapping and the scrubbing with the jog wheel works quite well for playing through the video, it always has, but I still get no audio while scrubbing with the jog wheel. I DO get audio when using the arrow keys to move frame by frame in either direction, but not with the wheel.
Am I the only one with this issue?
Thanks.

December 3, 2016 at 8:40 am in reply to: Slip edit while viewing current frame – possible?Yup. I know about the hot keys but was hoping there was a way to do it with click and drag. Resolve’s NLE has this functionality and I love it.

December 3, 2016 at 3:10 am in reply to: Switch from Premiere Pro to Resolve with Ultrastudio Mini MonitorWell whadya know, there IS a solution. Someone on another forum pointed out that Resolve does indeed have the same functionality as Premiere when it comes to shutting down the video stream when the software is in the background. It can be found in General Options, near the top and is called “Release Video I/O Hardware When Not In Focus”. This allows for the Mini Monitor I/O unit to pick up the video feed for whatever software is in the foreground.

Yep, this is quite true, for the most part.
Premiere, actually, has an option to drop the video output when it is in the background, thus making a switch from Premiere to Resolve possible. The problems comes when going the other direction. Resolve, unlike Premiere, grabs the Ultrastudio Mini Monitor and won’t let go. So, once your in Resolve, that’s it. Getting video from the Mini Monitor in Premiere requires a shut down of Resolve.
Was hoping someone might have discovered some kind of a work around for this, but it’s looking like something I’ll have to keep living with.

December 1, 2016 at 6:00 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro and Resolve conflict – strange behaviorThanks for the response, but that was the first thing I tried. As I said in my original post, Premiere will allow me to drop the video output when it’s in the background, thus freeing up my Ultrastudio Mini Monitor for use in Resolve. My problem comes when going the other direction. Resolve grabs the card and won’t let go, so I lose playback in Premiere.
That said, it appears I have found a workaround. Simply close and reboot Premiere. This tact is working so far, so fingers crossed.
Thanks.
