    Woah, 9 months?!?!?!

I hear you on the crazy pull-the-trigger expectations, too. One of these clowns I mentioned contacted us last night (after hours), after months of nothing, and demanded a 3 city shoot with multiple cameras starting next week.

I told her we were booked solid until 2014. Which is true (yay! Good year of business!).

And when she got angry, I told her that not only did she not respond to our followups, but that I made it very clear to her that we do not hold production time or resources without deposits. We’d contacted her no less than 6 times, in writing and on voicemail, explaining those very things in the previous months.

She blamed me for her being “in trouble” now with her boss in the UK, since she promised her we’d be the prodco and that I’d be directing.

I’m not sad. Too many other fish in the sea, ones who actually communicate.

I certainly can’t argue with that, although in our case I know that’s not the only thing. The correlation I found between end-of-quarter was pretty weak (although it did exist). End-of-year spends hiring us is an almost-nil, actually. Which I’m thankful for- nobody likes working long hours in Thanksgiving-Christmas-Etc-Land.

I dunno, maybe it’s what you say, that “corporate says we gotta spend this money now or lose it forever”, plus synchronicity weirdness.

Yeah, I’d say out of all the forums I frequent the Cow is by far the best- and you are part of why. Thanks!

Interesting no new Canon c-series. But yeah- I agree, the c300 is just… awesome. No need for anything else unless you’re doing something really different.

I love the straight talk of it.
And God, I’d like to reduce the number of calls like that which come to me.

And yet there’s this massive backlash from people on Facebook about it, claiming it’s not good enough, does not adequately represent all women, and places too much emphasis on society’s idea of what beautiful is. That it’s merely a corporate giant’s attempt to manipulate women.

I hate those permanently sour-grapes people. It’s a beautiful spot that reminds us that our self esteem in fact does affect everything we do, and perhaps our self esteem should be higher because we are in fact or own worst critics.

Remember the C300 has an internal 4K chip, it’s being down sampled to 1080p. The picture is killer.

If you use an external recorder from Atomos or wherever, you could get an even better image than internal compression, but what goes on the cards is very good indeed. It’s certainly enough for almost anything you do, outside of feature films.

I say this after having been a RED owner for years. The Canons are pretty whizzy, especially if you shoot in log (which, being a pro, you usually would). Shooting like you do- small crew- it’s a great option for you to go with C300.

Now the big question is, what’s Canon gonna unveil tomorrow at NAB?
