This is great news! We just rented the HVX200 for a greenscreen shoot and we love it but we want a 2/3″ full featured version with interchangeable lenses.

We were leaning towards XDCAM but the 2/3″ Pan looks like the best cam for the money for us.

Anyone from matrox or panasonic have a comment here? Seems pretty silly that pan releases a new format camera and Matrox drags their feet supporting it. What’s going to happen with the XDCAM?

I own two Axio machines and we are balancing a camera purchasing decision for this year: Sony XDCAM or Panasonic P2. If Panasonic wants our business (and the business of several others I should think), it might be a good idea to clarify the file xfer and support issue pretty quick. Oh yeah, there’s also the matter of media storage, archiving etc. since we need to keep pretty much everything we shoot in perpetuity. Anyone from Panasonic or Matrox care to chirp in here?

So you can capture mono files? (voice over most importantly)

So all captures and imports are sterro files that in turn need to be unlinked?

I thought you could do a lo-res proxy project export for offline editing on a laptop using AXIO and PPRO?

We use a sound house that does looping in FCP. They are able to add a visual wipe and beeps easily. I just bought 2 Matrox AXIo systems and we are going to to try emulate the set up in PPRO. Will report back

That’s why I’m interested. And when compared to AVID it’s really very cheap.
