    Hi Jerel,
I can use the Intensity Shuttle with all I/O options, i.e. HDMI, Component, Composite and Y/C.

I’m using the standard ASUS P9X79; I like it because it has a PCI-32bit slot and on-board IEEE-1394.

    Hi Lon,
is there a specific reason to buy a Gigabyte motherboard? Usually Asus provide better compatibility with BMD products. There were many not-Asus with X58 chipset that weren’t compatible.

Since X58 is out of date, I’d suggest to go on the X79 and on Asus P9X79 (I’m using two Shuttle one for Input and one for output), on the integrated USB 3.0 ports (ASMedia® ASM1061 controller). The compability is not due to the USB 3.0 chip maker, but from the Mainboard (I can add to the P9X79 any USB 3.0 HBAs and the Intensity Shuttle always works!)

I bought for another system an Asus P8Z77-M that has Chipset integrated USB ports (it is much cheaper solution, since I use the P9X79 with 6 core processors). I hope to test it with the Shuttle next week.

    Hello Tom,
ivsOnAir supports 4 individual playout channels using the Decklink Quad; each Decklink Quad channel can output up to 3 video layers (with alpha channel) and 12 graphic layers.

June 7, 2012 at 8:27 am in reply to: Multibridge Pro capture via SDI.

    Hello Javier,
the Multibridge Pro is a fantastic “DUAL USE” device.

If you don’t connect it to your PC/MAC using the PCI-e adapter, it works as a dual channel converter from Analog to SDI and from SDI to ANALOG. To configure the conversion you have to connect once the Multibridge to your PC/MAC via USB 2.0, and you will use the “Blackmagic Multibridge Utility” (your screen capture).

When you connect the Multibridge to your PC/MAC using the PCI-e adapter, it becomes a capture device, very similar to the Decklink HD Extreme 2, and you can configure it using “Blackmagic Desktop Video 9.5.2” software, that you can run:
‚‚- On Mac OS X, open the System Preferences and look in the “Other” category to locate the Blackmagic Design icon. Click the Blackmagic Design icon to gain access to the settings.
‚‚- On Windows 7, open the system Control Panel and click on “Hardware and Sound” to reveal the Blackmagic Design Control Panel. Click the Blackmagic Design Control Panel to gain access to the settings.

You can set the input in the “Settings” Tab.

In my opinion the Multibridge Pro is the best product ever made by BMD, the only missing thing was (and is) the lack of a dedicated PCI-e adapter for laptops (express card) and now for Thunderbolt.

    Hello Javier,
what is the software you’re using to capture?
    If you’re using Media Express under Windows;
    Control Panel>HW&Sound>Settings>Set Input

  • Hello Adam,
you’re welcome, but be careful, most of times changing the USB 3.0 host bus adapter doesn’t fix the compatibility problem, that is more MB/Chipset generated.

If you don’t need the SDI for your broadcast monitor, there is the Intensity Pro; it has the same features of the Shuttle but it is internal and it worked on any Asus motherboards I installed it.
It has the same price of the Shuttle.

May 4, 2012 at 11:00 pm in reply to: Multibridge Pro Fan Replacement

    Hello James,
thank you for sharing this info but be careful, less noise means less RPM and less airflow, you could risk a Multibridge Pro failure (and don’t forget to switch on the second PSU 🙂
If you’d want to not to use the second PSU, I think you can connect the new fan to the original fan socket, the third wire is the one to monitor fan speed.

  • Hello Adam,
since you are talking about a “broadcast” video monitor, and you have 2 free PCI-E slots, you could consider to buy a Decklink SDI too, since broadcast monitors support HD-SDI and (sometimes) HDMI.
The advantage of the USB 3.0 devices is that you can move them on more PCs or use it on a compatible laptop, but usually it is more difficult to get them to work (a right mainboard with a right chipset is required).

  • Hi Chris,
you just need a software player that supports both .MP4 files and the Decklink Card.
Almost all professional NLEs can do it (I’m supposing that the .mp4 files were created by a Sony/JVC Camcorder).

  • [Alan Parma] “also, what are the differences between the Intensity shuttle and extreme aside from the breakout cable?”

    Hello Alan,
Intensity Extreme features an additional audio output; SPDIF/AES Audio Output (2 Channel 24 bit).
If you use Y/C and Composite too, and you don’t need the SPDIF out, the Shuttle will be better since it has separated connectors for YUV, Y/C and composite.
BTW, I’d never change a Multibridge Pro 2! Multibridge is one of the best products ever made by BMD!
I love that when it is not connected to the laptop I can use it as a dual channel SDI to Analog / Analog to SDI cross converter.

    Best Regards,
