Let’s say that you have created a Project called Video1 inside a Final Cut Pro Library named also Video1, which is located in your SSD drive. I understand that you have backed this same Library up on your HDD drive.

What I suggest is that in FCP you follow this route: File > Open Library > From Backup, and choose your Library “Video1” located in your HDD drive. Once your Library is open, look for your Project “Video1” and open it.

    Hope this solves your issue.

My point is that if you open your Library “From Backup” you will be directing FCP towards the new location where your backup was copied. And when you open your Project located inside this Library, there shouldn’t be any problem with your media, unless the media hasn’t been saved to the Library.

    Hi David.

I understand that you are backing the FCP Library up on your HDD. Have you tried to open that library via File>OpenLibrary>From Backup?

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ken,

I think the Blackmagic UltraStudio HD Mini is what you need. It has a whole array of analog audio and video conectors for digital capture. You may need and adapter for the thunderbolt 3 connector though.

    Hope this helps,

    Pablo

I have a better suggestion. When editing a video, let’s say I name my Project (timeline) “Amber” and send it to my client once finished. If I need to make changes, I always create or duplicate my Project to “Amber Rev.1” or Rev.2 subsequently, etc. This way I never loose my previous Project (timeline) reference, in case the client later decides a previous version was better.

    Hi Ben,

You should duplicate your “timeline” and keep it open as a reference while making the changes.

    Hope it helps,

    Pablo

In order to get efficient help you should provide essential information like video format used, timeline settings and main computer hardware. Also, what video format are you exporting to.

    Cheers!

  • You have to accept that the Canon T6 is an entry level camera that records very good video for the price. But it is .mp4 video (already compressed). To achieve the professional look, and pristine video quality, you need to record with a professional video camera or dslr. These cameras use a larger sensor, better optics, and record raw video or use other codecs with very low compression, like ProRes. Lighting aesthetics are also very important to achieve the results you are looking for.

Meanwhile, with your existing footage I suggest you convert it to ProRes and make sure you edit progressive video (ProRes 1080p) instead of interlaced (1080i).

    Hope this helps you.

    Hi Michael,

Your project looks like one that should be edited using proxies. This will end your nightmare.

    Cheers.
