I’m just going to render what I need to, stuff that won’t just drop into Architect, and put it together the way you described. The videos I don’t need to edit or cut down, go straight in as you said. I’ll build it piece by piece in Architect. Thanks for the suggestions. It may seem to take longer, but it will save me time long term.

It’s not that easy.

Some of the submissions are full budget studio films. All films, amateur and professional, were copied using MagicDVDRipper and converted to an AVI file for Vegas to use. There are also Vegas generated media and transitions that can’t just be dropped into DVD Architect.

Since my last post, I went through and took 5 second clips from each piece of media, then rendered them individually and opened them in architect. I got rid of the Vegas pre-rendered clips just to clean things up and copied entire movies from original Vegas projects. Everything opened in Architect and played just fine. I’m now rendering a “clean” project.

My question now is, since every clip rendered and opened in DVD Architect, shouldn’t they all render together on one large Vegas project?

Thank you for your first response. In a perfect world, your solution would be ideal. One other thing is that the 20 films are not complete versions on the disks I’m making. They have been approved by the filmmakers to be cut down. This is more or less a highlight reel of the whole festival.

I’ll check out the codec issue? When I looked into the properties/prefferences of Magic DVD Ripper, I saw that the Codec it used was “an internal mpeg4 codec”

Resolution… It’s not that the original format could have been 1440 x 1080 but if I render at 720 x 480, it looks square. If I do 720 x 540, the aspect ratio is correct but it doesn’t fill the screen. If I render at 1440 x 1080, when I get to DVD Architect it fills the frame and is the correct aspect ratio.

Now I have 2 new questions?
1. Let’s say I use the Codec tool and find which Codec was used. HOW DO I APPLY THAT IN VEGAS ON THE NEW QQUAD PROCESSOR COMPUTER SO THAT I CAN USE THE VIDEO AND AUDIO FOOTAGE OFF OF MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE?
2. It only makes sense that if I render at 720 x 480/540 it would be correct on a dvd. WHY ISN’T IT? DO YOU HAVE THE PROBABLY NOT SO SECRET ANSWER THAT WOULD ALLOW FOR ME TO RENDER AT THE CORRECT RESOLUTION SETTING AND GET THE CORRECT RESULT ONTO A DVD?

– The DVDs are film submissions for a film festival. I’m making a compilation. don’t think too much copyright protection is going on.
– The original project setting are at 1440 x 1080. Don’t know if that would cause the image to be compressed in the end.

Thank you so much for your help and definitely your newsletters. I printed the 2 out, followed them step by step and produced a perfectly rendered DVD.

Now…
I have to clean up the DVD in a few ways.
1. I need to freeze a frame and have it stretch for a period of time at the beginning and another at the end of the movie. (cant find it in the software, in an obvious place)
2. I also need to slow motion a portion of the movie. (cant find it in the software, in an obvious place)
3. Lastly, I need to do some color correction. (I’ve played with this but it only seems to do a portion of the frame and I need it to last from the beginning of the cut to the end)

Please help again. Hopefully you have another section of your newsletter that has all of this info.

I have Vegas Pro 8.

If I render using default settings (MPEG1 with basic audio & video) the video comes out poor and the sound is there.

If I do any changes to the quality of the video (MPEG2 with “best” video) even if the “include audio track” is checked, after rendering there is no audio.

How do I get render with “best” video and still have audio?
