I have the exact quadro and it works great! AE open gl isnt very developed yet. If you wanted to stay ahead of the game, the quadro is a good bet.

I know of an expression you can use to help. If you alt+click on the XY position in particular, pick whip down to the position of the stroke. Hit enter after and now Particular will emit particles from the stroke position. I hope this helps.

Isn’t there an option where if your tracker goes crazy, you can select a percentage and it will search more in depth? Motion track> options> drop down> set percentage to 100%? Sorry for the missing info, I dont have my AE comp in front of me. The name is slipping me for some reason (hum).

He asked what is the best card (out of a list) for AE use. Not “what are the best applications” for AE preview and render. Maybe you miss read, he gave a list of cards and out of them. Which would most increase render time? In this case, the quadro would be the best choice. I never said it was the best thing to do for AE and I’m not quite sure where the game comment came in. Since you are upgrading to a MAC pro and you HAVE to choose a graphics card. Why not go for the one that has computer animation and graphics in mind? Not games…..

Quadro hands down! Yes, your graphics card does matter. As I have come to understand it, CS3 is the first AE to take advantage of GPU. If you really want AE to fly, get plenty of RAM (4 gigs). It doesnt require that much but the combo of 4 gigs plus the 4500fx. You would be sitting pretty good 🙂
