The few times I’ve needed support from BMD, I’ve sent an email. The response time varies, I guess they have a lot to do.

Some times it’s a matter of minutes, or hours. Other times it’s a matter of days. But then again, I might be asking some extreme questions. The answers have been very good in my case. Satisfied as a fish in water.

Most of the time, I end up reading forums to see if anyone else have experience in what I have questions about. Most of the time, the Cow or other forums is the source of knowledge.

And you’re on Mac OS with an Apple Mac or Hackintosh? Windows?

I’m interested in this card myself, as I cannot get a Cubix right now. Do you have any RED 4K material? Would love to hear if it’s as stated on eBay, that you can render 4K without problems.

For all it’s worth – what’s your hardware setup?

I’m pleased to say 8.2.1 beta fixed the problem for me. Hopefully it does for you too. 🙂

I’ve had a ton of issues with NLE generated XDCAM files. Magenta/green blocks all over the place, but looks fine in any NLE. XDCAM files directly from camera are no problem.

I contacted DaVinci support and sent them the file for them to investigate. I suggest you do the same.

I found it useless for my situation; most of the time just me in the room – but more often one or more heads next to mine. I went with the Autocue T-series. Haven’t looked back.

If your timeline is, say, 2048×857, and you set monitor output to 1920×1080 – you will have black letterboxing. PTZR as normal.

When you get to rendering, double check the frame size of the timeline and rendering is the same, unless you want letterboxing. Consult with the DCP guy. He/she should be able to help you with this.

I’m afraid so. Or, you can apply an XYZ output LUT in Resolve, but it will apply itself to the video in the GUI too, so using the Viewer won’t be possible, if you’re into doing that.

One can only hope.. Hehe.. Or the sales rep would probably say “haven’t you tried the remote grading feature yet? It’s a must have. You’re practically getting the camera for $999”.
