I can’t answer why Premiere can do this. My thoughts goes to “CPU ONLY” though.
Your best bet is to go the Decklink route and stick to the recommended hardware.

  • I mean the way you show mask/matte when working with secondaries or the color picker. It’s a very useful tool to check whether you’ve selected more or less than what you want to affect.

I believe that’s what you experienced. Restarting Resolve would naturally reset the effect like you experienced. But there’s also keyboard shortcuts and shortcut to toggle this if you have a control surface. If so, check the spec sheet for your control surface over at BMDs support section.

It should be visible in the UI too if you check if the “Highlight” feature is enabled.

  • Either what Peter said, or the other I could think of is that you’ve enabled to see the mask I colors.
Is the node crossed out with a red X or is it looking normal?

Did you work and render in the same legal space? Unscaled/Scaled?

You’re correct. The config will save the timeline resolution, and will not automatically update for each project.

But once you have everything set, it’s quick to make new presets for other resolutions.

    That’s correct! 🙂
To make it all a bit smoother without all the clicking and selections in menus etc. you could make two configs.

    – One for grading
    – One for saving stills in full size

So when you wish to switch between these two, select the config template and hit LOAD, and you’re ready to do whatever you intend in no time.

    Good luck! 🙂

Timeline should be in the same resolution. Then find the frame in the timeline, save still, right click and export to DPX, TIFF, JPEG, PNG or whatever format available.

Windows 7, yes. It was one GPU for both GUI and CUDA. That’s what impressed me so much.

I guess there’s a reason why the 590 aren’t on the config list:
    1) they may not have tested it
    2) they tested it, but it doesn’t give what you pay for

I have tested it with my PC at home. A modest i5 2500K, 8GB RAM and GeForce GTX 560 Ti. I was shocked at how well it can take both ProRes 422, 4444 and RED r3d from Epic.

This both excites me, but it’s also scary how available this niche all of a sudden is becoming.

  • XDCAM in .mov container is supported. I’ve had projects with that codec since before xmas last year. Note though; it’s kind of heavy and sluggish to work with – but it works.
