Mike nails it! Yes, “AK” is the 2-letter identifier for Alaska, where I’m from. No more intrigue, sorry. 🙂
Glad to be here(?), thanks for the welcome, Tim!

Oops, we’ve already had this conversation in a previous thread. My bad.

FluidFilm is under the “Timewarp” category in the Effect Palette. If it’s not in there, reinstall your Avid software.
As for your missing SpeedRamp effect, which folder did you install it in, the “AVX Plugins” folder or the “AVX2 Plugins” folder? It should be in stalled in the standard “AVX Plugins” folder. Another thing to try: open your “AVX Plugins” folder and see if there’s another folder in it also called “AVX Plugins” with your SpeedRamp plugin installed there. If it is, select the SpeedRamp AVX plugin, right-click, select “cut” then back out to the REAL “AVX Plugin” folder. Right-click again, select “paste” then delete the now-empty AVX Plugins folder inside the REAL AVX Plugins folder. Funky, I know, but it’s happened to me several times.
Let us know how it goes.
Good luck.

I’ve heard the same thing, but never tried it personally. FluidFilm is probably the best way to get the “Film-look,” but the render times are so long and unacceptable, it’s pretty much a worthless effect to me. Try downlodaing the 3Prong SpeedRamp AVX plugin for Avid. It’s got a free trial (watermarked), but if it gives you the results you like, the purchase price is very reasonable (around $100). Plus it renders a HECK of a lot faster than FluidFilm! https://www.3prong.com
Take care.

Thanks guys. I expect to be taking part on the forums here a little more often now. 🙂
It was kinda fun being “oakmozart,” since I could say what I wanted and nobody knew who the “real” me was! I slipped up a couple of times, though, by typing my trademark “Take care” or “Good luck” at the end of some of my messages. If that didn’t give me away, I don’t know what else will (except admitting who I am). 🙂
Thanks for the welcomes, guys.

You can use Avid’s built-in FluidFilm effect, which is on XPro 4.5 and later (as well as MC 1.5 and later, and Symphony Nitris, etc.) FluidFilm is nothing more than a canned timewarp effect that uses FluidMotion rendering to make your interlaced video move like progressive. BEWARE, however, since it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R to render! I’m not kidding, dude, your kids will grow up while you wait for it to render if you apply it to a sequence!
3Prong’s SpeedRamp supposedly does this as well, along with its primary function of being a 3rd-party Timewarp/Fluidmotion effect. It’s cheap…less than $100 for XPro. Around $200 for Media Composer. https://www.3prong.com
You could also export your sequence to After Effects, where you can use the Magic Bullet Suite by Red Giant Software. The Bullet is INCREDIBLE and worth every expensive penny they charge for it. https://www.redgiantsoftware.com
Hope that helps.

Hi there-
There’s a freebie “Transfer Mode” effect also available from the Cow’s Archnemesis…which I can’t post the link to here directly. However, I can point you to another site, which will give you the link you need. There’s a few editing tips/techniques I wrote on there, as well.

Enjoy.

Ebay. Don’t expect to get a lot for it though.

Try Digital Film Tools products. Their 55mm and Digital Film Lab effects suites are pretty cool. There’s also Magic Bullet Editors AVX from Red Giant Software. Boris Continuum Complete has some film-look effects in it too. It’s bundled in with Media Composer Adrenaline 1.5 and later, but you’ll have to buy it otherwise.
