  • Mike, this sounds like the solution.

I’ve got to finish two things, and then I want to do try this. I am reading up on Track Motion in Sony’s latest email right now, and think I can make three simple tracks to position the text I need.

In the Media Generators, I had found it very helpful to create a dark charcoal outline of the text, to make it stand out from the background.

In Photoshop, can I make the letters white (or yellow, as needed), but then give the letters a dark charcoal background; and then make the rest of the files clear (ie., alpha channel set at zero), in order to emulate a Media Generator file?

I guess that’s too much to ask in this day and age 🙁

Mike, this should not be. I grab the files off of my flash-based Canon HF S10 all the time. Usually I record to the flash card, and plug that into a USB card reader; but I can also connect the camera with a USB cable, and copy and paste the files in Windows Explorer.

Can you test a Sony brand Flash-media based camera, such as this one?

Is that still in your price range?

OK, but I have to post my subtitled versions to Vimeo and YouTube, as that is where 90%+ of my hits are.

I am going to try your Photoshop solution next. I think I can set things to standard, so I will only need two or three templates.

  • It’s got letterboxing, but it is at 10% and still rendering.

How can I get it without the letterboxing?

  • It says:

“An error occurred while creating the media file (name.veg). The system is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications.”

Dynamic RAM is set to Zero. I am not able to reboot the system in order to defrag the paging file, or else I may lose my precious Media Generator files.

AVG is stubborn, and does not want to shut all the way down, but I will shut down what I can and then try rendering the NTSC Widescreen video stream template.

In case it helps anyone, I think maybe one thing I can do is just not to shut Vegas down.

When I finish with the basic project, and have all four renders done (Internet HD, SD, Blu-Ray and DVD), then I can save the project as the next (English Subtitles) version. Then I can add my new subtitles, and do all four renders on that as well.

Then I can do the Spanish Subtitles version, and etcetera. That is going to be a serious pain, because I have to wait on my translator, and hopefully I won’t lose all of the additionally generated media.

I can use Photoshop, but I think I would have to use track motion to position the media, which would mean about a bazillion tracks. I would think that would get very unwieldy.

Anyhow, I hope this helps someone.

  • Or is it not really very simple?

  • I am at 3%, and so far the media on Track Three is rendering correctly: no pillars!

When it finishes I will take a look-see about how to render the audio stream.

    Hi Mike.

    >>The Sony SR47 (they already have one and I don’t like it) they’re considering is $500 Canadian and that’s the price point they’ve established.

I wish I could help, but my camcorders are Canon.

I thought that when it came to editing, AVCHD was AVCHD was AVCHD. Just for my edification, may I please ask what it is about the SR47 that you don’t like, with regards to editing?

can you save as a different ‘test’ project, make some changes, and find out?
