Sorry for the long delay. I have been trying to wrap my mind around DotNetNuke.

Hi John.

I get your point about using a square PAR. It would seem kind of silly to go from squares, to rectangles, back to squares. I just was not thinking about that at the time.

Would you have any idea how to get a PreSonus Firepod to work with Camtasia? Are there any tricks?

OK, thanks. The reason I did not go with HD is kind of convoluted….

On the workstation I use a PreSonus Firepod (external firewire audio card). The sound is great, but for some reason it cuts out from time to time, and then I have to open the Firepod Control Panel, and switch the frequency from 44.1 to 48.0 KHz, or vice versa (and then it works). But I cannot seem to get it to work with Camtasia. (TechSmith is aware of the problem, and has promised a bug fix, but so far I do not have it).

So I was recording on my laptop. Basically I made a PowerPoint presentation, which I then put into .pdf, and flipped my way through the slides while I gave the audio narration by USB microphone. I chose 800 x 600 because it was 4×3, and would fit on my screen. Probably not very sophisticated, but it worked (at least this time)….

I am not the expert, and I am out of the loop for a while until I get the new website up, but I will see if I can help. The system you quote looks fine. RAID0 (performance) would be ideal for your secondary drive, as the data needs of HD are really intense.

But why do you want to split the OS, 64 bit and 32 bit? Most 32 bit programs run fine on 64 bit OS, and the rest usually have some form of workarounds. (For example, you can run both 32 and 64 bit Vegas on 64 bit Vista).

Any time you push the envelope, you will end up with ‘bleeding edge’ errors. Lots of guys run Windows 7, as it is basically Vista SP2+, but just beware.

If you want true raw you need an HDMI out port, and then capture either to a BlackMagic card such as Intensity Pro (which is not officially supported in Vegas, but there are hacks), or an AJA card (which is supported, but only in SDI, so you have to use converters.

There is also the Convergent Design compact flash card unit, which is probably a better way to go, but if you really want to do all that, and have tons of hard drive space, then do your research first.
