FCPX will make it all fit and play properly but it would be up to your client if they’re ok with the interlaced look which is quite different than 30p or they want you to de-interlace. Also doable within FCPX though it would be a little more rendering time/quality hit.
I’d suggest cutting a few minutes and showing them a test with/without to see what they prefer before you go too far down one path.
There are definitely switchers out there that can do 30p I believe Newtek’s for example and I’m sure some of the more high end one’s support it as well.

Yup- exactly right. In QT you are seeing the ‘raw’ camera output with no LUT applied. Because it’s Alexa the built-in default LUT automatically kicks in in FCPX. But it will go back to raw if you turn it off in the Inspector.

You could easily build your own effect in Motion and drop in wherever you want. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx8uub7N75Y

Sounds like you need to nail down the workflow first- 4K ProRes vs 4K REDCODE are night and day.
Were it the latter I’d want a 12-core and a RED Rocket in a Sonnet box if I planned to sleep well at night. The former would cut like butter in either machine.
Or add an Odyssey 7Q+ or an Atomos Ninja Flame
Then it won’t matter which camera you shoot- you’ll get awesome ProRes.

No such thing as future proofing in this business. But I think bang for buck 5K iMac is the best deal if money is an object. More deets:

Drives are *so* cheap today I’d be very leery of saving a few GB with a shortcut like that. You really want the entirety of the Library structure with at least the media in your final edit. This can be done in at least two easy ways:

ps a mod at RedShark confirmed the author is actually Clayton Moore, who left Apple in 2009 and not a Lone Ranger alias.

So you’re saying 90 days from private demo to ship date is the industry standard timeframe. I’ll bet that’s news to a lot of developers.

Trouble? I don’t recall a 90 day timeframe being mentioned. The words were: later this year.
