I would suggest a 2-gig hard limit on your internal FTP is the real issue here. That would have been ok 10 years ago but at this point that’s incredibly restrictive. I just uploaded a bunch of 10 minute clips to YouTube that ranged from 2-8GB each compressed.

My suggestion would be to create a private version on Vimeo so they can see the content is fine. Decoders can choke badly.

The author is identified a bit down the page as Clayton Moore, assuming it’s https://www.linkedin.com/in/clayton-moore-08889218
That Clayton left Apple in 2009, years before FCPX was born. So, if that’s the author, I would question his credentials as an insider with up to date knowledge about Final Cut Pro.
Also, if he’d done sufficient research about FCPX at NAB 2016, he could have learned about FCPWORKS’ hosting of Apple NDA presentations among many other examples of a healthy ecosystem. All of which would support his #2 theory much more than his #1.

Also nesting the clip into a Compound Clip can override this behavior on a lot of transitions. But completely agree: it should be a preference.

HDV comes over Firewire as a digital signal with no transcoding during capture So…. any deck will give you identical quality captures as long as the heads are in decent shape.

I have an LG 21:9 and I think are solid as a single monitor solution. For dual monitor setups however, you’ll likely want a more standard aspect ratio. Which would be the Dell or the Sharp in lieu of a cinema display. I’ve tried single 21:9 as dual screen but to be honest the halves are a little small for this, at least on the size I got.
