Something like this is much better suited than FCP:

I get my discs printed by cdprintexpress- they use an Everest and it looks as good or better than pro DVDs. You should order a sample from them- it rocks. Tell them I sent ya.

I’ve had good luck with the Panny tape. Bottom line is worse thing is to keep switching back and forth.

I run C4D on that system and it’s pretty good. I usually end up sending final renders to my G5s but for modeling on the road- it’s great.

one thing you don’t get with the base bundle that I find essential is network rendering. I use that all the time. But if you’ve only got a main system- that’s not an isssue- you’ll run big renders over night. As for Blender to C4d- can’t really speak to that. I played with Blender for a little while, found little relation to what I eventually came to like in C4D. Also found Blender to be not a great performer- seems to be a port from a Windows or Linux version onto OSX with not great translation. C4D is stable- way more solid than FCP for example. Not to say Blender doesn’t rock for the price(free) but personally found that C4D would be preferable even if they cost the same.

  • Not that I’m aware of.

  • There’s a thread about this a few weeks ago. The models need to be converted in 3D Studio to one of the formats C4d can import. Materials seem to be a particularly tricky issue.

I tried Blender- it’s definitely unbeatable for the price but didn’t have as much luck getting results out of it as I did with C4D. I played with the free C4D demo for months before actually spending dough. That would be my suggestion.
