I advise strongly against ever mucking around in the file folder structure for FCPX.

The two methods you mention are the only ways I can think of without manually reimporting everything and then over-cutting a brand new Premiere timeline to match a finished FCPX output. That’s certainly the cleanest way but a ton more busy work.
Is there a super compelling reason why you don’t just finish the project in FCPX and start your next project fresh in Premiere? Both are equally capable of delivering an identical finished project.
If you can say it’s a must- I’d say be prepared for at least a few days if not more of kinda boring frustrating work doing the reconnection. Ie media won’t likely ‘automatically link up’ without some degree of manual intervention. And FCPX specific attributes like Color Board color grading will be lost in translation. Personally I’d go the XtoCC route. Then at least it’s only two application chainsaws to juggle instead of 3.

Unfortunately with the 50% slower Thunderbolt 2 ports on the 2013 MacPro vs the Thunderbolt 3 ports on new iMacs and MacBook Pros, you won’t get much net gain over the onboard GPUs with an eGPU.

The version of FCPX currently released runs but is not optimized for High Sierra. I would suggest a dual boot if you have mission critical stuff.

November 22, 2017 at 11:53 pm in reply to: Movie*Slate, KeyClips, Shot Notes X and Sync N Link.Shot Notes is a lot more basic compared to KeyClips- it’s pretty much designed to transfer a script supervisors paper notes to FCPX. KeyClips is meant to be used with a slate to automate the job of script supervising.

November 21, 2017 at 11:26 pm in reply to: Reimport from Camera/Camera Archive – not workingNot going to work as there is no 1:1 equivalent from 7 to X’s camera archives. You’ll need to reimport clip by clip and then cut to match. Sorry but 7 and X are oceans apart in some aspects.
