  • Reimport from Camera/Camera Archive – not working

FCPX 10.2.3 on a MAC PRO 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

I exported a timeline from FCP7 and imported it to FCPX using “7toX for Final Cut Pro”
The videos are movies that were imported from Sony XDCAM EX folders.

How do I re-import these movies from the Sony XDCAM EX folders on my external HDs?
These movies were MOVs on my Internal RAID when I was editing in FCP7.
However, the project is 5 years old and I do NOT have the movies on my RAID now.
So I need to re-import from the XCDAM EX folders.

I’ve highlighted the clip and selected File > Import > Reimport from Camera/Camera Archive

However, once I click “Continue” I get another window that says:
    “Nothing to Reimport
All of the selected clips have their original media in place or were originally not imported from a camera.”

I’ve tried going to “Import” and adding the XDCAM EX folder to the Favorites, and trying again, but I get the same message.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

Not going to work as there is no 1:1 equivalent from 7 to X’s camera archives. You’ll need to reimport clip by clip and then cut to match. Sorry but 7 and X are oceans apart in some aspects.

    Thanks Noah,

    That’s too bad.
However, I ran a batch list when I was exporting the XML from FCP7, so I had the media start and media stop times for each clip.
I imported them manually in FCPX, using those times.
Once I had them as movies on my RAID, I then did the re-link, and they inserted into the timeline.
Took a little longer importing them with the same media start and end points, but it did work.

Better than having to re-edit the entire video from scratch, as the client wanted some changes 5 years later.

    Thanks again!
