Try AJA, Blackmagic and/or ATOMOS for a variety of HDMI recorders.

I do actually cover field issues on that tutorial and how they relate to your FCP sequence settings. The bottom line is it does not matter much what your clips are set to- that cannot be ‘undone’ All that matters with sequence settings is for new renders like effects/transitions etc. If you set your timeline to none- the renders will match your clips. If you don’t- new renders will show interlaced fields and will not match. But the original material will remain unchanged.

I’d highly recommend against that- 30p doesn’t convert to anything well. It works ok in a 60i timeline but is terrible for conversions to PAL based framerates like 50i,25p and of course 24p. It’s about the least flexible format you can choose as a master unless you are absolutely certain your deliverables will be 60i or 30p 100% of the time…

Depends entirely on the network. In general 1080/24p is a good starting point for your master. It’s easy to derive just about everything else from 1080p down from that.

May 9, 2012 at 10:25 pm in reply to: Looking for the perfect cameras for Real Estate Video Shooting….That price range you’re best off doing a flyby a Best Buy and looking at the latest handycam type cameras. If you want DSLR looking shots though- consider a Panasonic GH2. In the price range and not hard to use as a ‘video camera.’ I’m guessing live audio recording is not critical for those kinds of videos which would be the main disadvantage of a DSLR stock without a secondary audio recorder.

Depends entirely on what you mean by dinosaur and what your needs are as of today. The DVX100 is/was a solid camera but considering we’re well into 4K cameras in 2012, 480p isn’t exactly state of the art anymore especially when iPhones are shooting surprisingly good-looking 1080p. Get what you need…
