take a look down a couple of lines down at the “Premiere does not shut down” post and you will see there are STILL problems with timecode, at least as far as capturing in PremPro CS3 goes.
I personally am shocked at how buggy the Decklilnk drivers are. I thought Decklink was a professional product, but it seems to me that unless you can limit yourself to one or two features of the card, you are bound to run into trouble.
That said, let us hope that BMD invests more reasources in engineering and less in marketing, so that one day such basic components like TIMECODE work like they should.

Any news or breakthroughs getting your system to work with Deckllink HD Extreme?
I have “kind of” got my system working by shutting off almost any feature I could do without in the Bios. (on-board sound, memory remapping, etc).
But I would be curious if you have some specific info of something I haven’t tried yet.regards,

End of the week and still no sign of life from BMD?
It would be nice to hear if this is a bug or “just” an anomoly for specific systems…
ALSO I was unable to find anything equivalent to an “update log” listing the changes between driver versions. Does BMD list this info anywhere? It would help making decisions on this end vis a vis down/upgrading drivers!

In what is becoming a never-ending saga of getting the Decklink HD extreme to work on a Asus 5B deluxe motherboard here is a further list of tweaks that were necessary, this might be of help to other Asus Board owners:
IN Bios:
turn off VGA palette snooping
set PEG to “SLOW” (basically turns PEG off)
disable memory re-mapping above physical
DISABLE on-board audio (use decklink for all audio in/output)I cannot say this system is convicingly stable, there are other quirks with the firmware updater (see other post) as well as some issues with PremPro CS3.

I can also confirm this bug: all timecodes are set at in-point “0” with the 6.8 drivers.
I am using a system similar to Eric Heimhilger, ASUS Board, BetaSP, PremierePro…
I have just recently aquired the Decklink HD extreme. The many quirks with Decklink HD are beginning to worry me…

if you are planning on using the BMD Decklink HD extreme card, be VERY careful about what MBoard you choose.Although the Decklink cards seem to work quite well in Mac machines, the PC-drivers and various configurations of PC hardware can (and have) caused major problems with Decklink cards. Check my (and other) posts at the BMD forum to see for yourself.
Checking the BMD website, they do now list compatability with the Gigabyte P45 boards. I think these are a good choice because the ICH-10 on those boards offer you an extra multi-lane pci-e slot. Most consumer motherboards offer only 2 pci-e slots with 16/8x speed, plus 1x pci-e. The Decklink HD extreme demands at least one x4 slot. Plus you have your graphic card in the other pci-e 16x slot. So the P45 boards usually offer at least one extra x4 pci-e which is VERY important if you intend on adding a reasonable RAID card.

I wish I could give you good advice. I can only offer my condolences/own sad experience with Decklink HD extreme (pci-e) in PC machines, and hope that someone at BMD will wake up and deal with the buggy drivers and improve their communication with customers in general.I too tried two different systems (Asus 5b-Deluxe and Gigabyte P-35-DSP), all kinds of configurations/parameters in the Bios, re-install of XP…
after weeks of suffering I was only able to get Decklink to “kind of” work. Or it would work for one day and not the next, although no new hardware/software was added.I posted on this forum “Decklink install misery”, also hoping that SOMEONE with a working system would respond. One response -see below for Chris Blair’s experience… plus an email from New Zealand from another frustrated user with exactly the errors I described (decklink screws up primary drivers, BSOD, etc.)
Here a checklist of things you can try:
>it seems the BIOS settings are very important: not only should you be sure to set your PEG at x4 for the Decklink, you might try toggling the PnPlay OS-control or Bios-control for setting IRQs.
>Do NOT extend the desktop on the Decklink screen (tip from Chris Blair). Set “send black” in Decklink control.
Other than that, I hope BMD gets cracking. The compatible motherboards list on their Website has just recently changed, so I also really wonder what pc-motherboard really works with their cards…

OKAY, here’s the fix for the symptoms I mentioned in post 1.
Chris Blairs’s comment about “turning off the extend-desktop and monitoring settings” in the Decklink control panel were crucial in finally getting the decklink to work with my system.
At first I thought turning these settings “off” would cancel all monitoring possibilities: that is not so. Somwhow they are there to “talk to windows” but the default settings were certainly NOT talking the right language to my system. ANYWAY following Chris Blair’s advice, AND re-installing the original graphic drivers for the default-card that the Decklink drivers had screwed up (4-bit, minimal resuolution) FINALLY brought results. Even though the monitoring is turned off, I am getting video output from the card, without the drivers ruining my desktop resolution.
Initial tests seem to indicate the Decklink card is “playing ball” with both Premiere CS3 and my system, hallelujahhh!
This was certainly one of the most difficult pieces of hardware I have ever had to install.
