SOLVED. the layer i had my slider control on was shifted in the timeline (i.e. not starting at 0). so my animations were actually happening but at a later point in time. i dont know why this would be problem in the first place since i was not using the time as a parameter at all, but hey, it’s all good now. thank you for your help!

yep, i mean setting keyframes. the funny thing is that once i hit the stopwatch and have more than 1 keyframe even the preview is not working anymore, even though the slider values change when i scrub in the timeline.
i am using AE CS3 8.0.2.27 by the way.maybe i have to start fresh in a new project..? weird though!

thank you for your replies – i tried using .value and made sure all comps have unique names. both didnt work 🙁
Dan: previewing works fine for me as well (same as with you. as soon as i start animating the slider though nothing works anymore. can u reproduce this? thx!

October 28, 2008 at 7:54 pm in reply to: combining a 2D plate with it’s related tracked 3D cameraHey sharif,
thanks for your reply.Yes, i have tried that. It gets pretty close, but the thing is that the environment is behind the sphere and thus not affected by the refraction of the material. My actress is supposed to be IN the sphere. Also, there will be an scene built around here (wall planes etc.), so that you cannot see the background all the time.
I will upload some screens later this day that maybe help clarify…

December 18, 2006 at 5:24 pm in reply to: Audiomastering of Videofile with varying Audiolevelshmm, i tried your approach (or at least what i understood you ment) but it did not do the trick for me, in fact it did not make any difference at all…
i did the following:
normalize the whole wav down to -21 dB (lowest level thoughout whole file) and then normalize again to 0 dB. Result: nearly the original wave file.
i guess this makes sense as the highest level is always the reference for the normalize action thoughout the whole file (or not?) and the proportions dont change when i apply “normalize” equally to the whole file. i would need something like a “individual normalize” instead of a “global” one.

December 18, 2006 at 3:28 pm in reply to: Audiomastering of Videofile with varying Audiolevelsthanks willie,
thing is i tried it just the other way around – normalizing to the level i want the final clip to have. this resulted in some sections still being quite low leveled because the effect takes the peak levels of the ‘loudest’ sections as a reference. peaks (‘spikes’ if you like) in some sequences resulted in the same problem, which is why i applied a hard limiting effect beforehand. does this make sense? -

November 30, 2006 at 11:08 am in reply to: Encore 2.0 – Menue transitions behave incorrectlythanks for your help!
i have re-rendered all sequences and it did the trick for most of the above problems. Still there is one transition which wont work though – it still keeps looping on and on! i have tried various different renders of this specific file (changing overall length, bitrate, GOP specs, etc) but not a chance.
the transition does work if i swap the asset with one used for another transition – this does not work for all assets though: some will loop when used with this specific button even if they dont when i use them on a different button (i.e. i take a functioning transition asset and use it with the problematic button).
this is seriously driving me nuts.

jeff – is that a new feature in 2.0? will try it asap & report back! thanks for the swift reply!

jeff – are you saying it’s not possible to have clips with less of 2 seconds length? i have lots of these (mainly menue animations)and encounter the same error… would hate to take them out of my project, especially since it worked out all right in Encore 1.5!
