I want to thank everyone for the time they have taken to reply to my post! I took a good idea. As I said 8k was a good deal for me not only due to Greek Market but also because that was my first attempt to make a corporate film (I had done shortfilms and animations, these do not make a corporate portfolio really!)Yes this could have been a money looser, but closely was not. Though Rich Rubasch is right on questioning the viability of my business. Generally, I am one of those that believe that a job must be paid what is worth (and in the past paid for this belief!). If read backwards it would sound like “you only get for what you pay for…” This is not easily applied to a business that requires artistic effort.
I hope in the next project I will be more fair to myself.
I must say again I enjoyed a wonderful collaboration with the client.
Also this forum post was very educational for me…Never underestimate the kindness of strangers!!!
    Happy filming for 2011!
    Καλή τύχη σε όλους!
    Good luck to all!

I am afraid I have not put it right, I wanted to know the communities opinion without preoccupying you with the price I charged them.
It just happens Greece to be under crisis and have to consider working internationally…. I don’t know the figures…!
Yes I had a detailed budget discussed and agreed with them and also got paid on time having an excellent collaboration.
    The budget included,
    Boat man-fuels
    Diver/camera man
    Camera man
    2nd Cameraman
    Scuba equipment
    Composer
    Mixing/mastering studio
    Graphic designer
    Flights cost
    Equipment rental…. Etc… etc…
I charged around 8k euro. I am happy with this taking into account the Greek Market. I would love to know what cinematographers around the world would charge for a similar project.

I cannot explain the wmp playing it smoothly. it is not subjective means of judging anyway, I would instead try quick time pro with option -> view play all frames. How does it look?
    anyway…
I suggest tring: R-click the clip in timeline see if “frame blending” is active.
In any case you have to check it in a external monitor e.g burn a dvd and play it in a TV set projector (old tv sets with cathode lamp will play smoother than new LCD, TFT sets that work in progressive manner). i.e. forget how you see it in premeier for now and simmulate the presentation way (even if this is youtube) if the results are exeptable your premiere propably will need some tweaking.
    Good luck

    Hello Clyde
What you describe puzzled me for long long time I believed that progressive footage was superb to interlaced. For some people it is better, but with a price. And this is what you describe, interlaced footage provides more eye friendly motion blur than progressive. The phenomenon you describe will be found in web as Jumpy, shattering, jitter, etc it is normal. Solution: Shoot again with super slow panning or very fast panning. Jittering will be always there but in the 1st case will not be noticeable whereas in the 2nd will be exaggerated to extend that will not make the viewer notice it.

First of all thank for your response. 25fps is because I am in a PAL area (Greece). Film transfer facilities I have contacted will equally accept both 24 and 25fps. Also not all of our cameras shoot 24fps. With the above said, do you have any suggestions for the other issues?
    Thanks again

I cannot explain it. Straight unmated should work correctly. I repeated your steps just to check. Now R-click reload the footage. If it does not work I will agree with Michael Szalapski. PSD would have done it at first place. Good luck

    Thanks a lot Joe!
The fact that there is no “right workflow” is both comforting and discomforting! To tell the truth I am in to cinematography and editing. The 3d part is dealt by my colleague how is sort of “maya guru” as far it concerns though game development application of MAYA not cinema applications. I will inform him about this RPF step and see how it will work via MAYA or MAX. Then I will import in AE and see what happens! I have never inserted 3d elements in AE, I will try and lets you know.
    Thanks again!

Just in case you haven’t thought it. In the project window R-Click the png. and check if the interpretation of the file alpha channel is checked

You might want to play with the blending modes of the text layer so it will look more naturally incorporated in the wall (even have a graffiti look)
