The console is in the utilities folder in your Applications.
I’ve been using X since its release and I’ve never had any problems, other than small bugs once in a while, and there’s plenty of people on this forum using it successfully. And I always move stuff manually. Even though I recommend it, I still haven’t gotten around to buying Event Manager X;) You could have this problem with any NLE.
Your work is not lost, if you reinstall your OS just make sure you have everything backed up to your external drive.
Last year I had a weird problem when, after disconnecting my TV, having used it for Motion, its viewer simply disappeared, reconnecting it to the TV didn’t work , reinstalling Motion didn’t work, deleting FCP Legacy didn’t work. I ended up reinstalling my OS and everything was back to normal. These thing can happen.
Do you have friends or some place nearby using X? Connect your Projects there, they should work.
I doubt your projects are corrupt, simply deleting render files should not cause this. There’s probably something funky going on with X and Lion.

You could disconnect all projects and events, then open X and by default it should create a new event in you internal drive, if you haven’t done that already.
Deleting render files, even manually shouldn’t cause any problems. If you reinstalled, safebooted and deleted prefs, and nothing works maybe you need to reinstall the OS as well.
Do you have FCP Legacy installed on the same partition as X? Are you using any third party plugins?

Did you delete render files? You can’t delete effects in the project folders. You shouldn’t be deleting files in Xs folder structure anyway, but do it from within the software.
If you went into the folder structure and deleted other files by accident, it’s very possible that you screwed something up in the projects.
If you have corrupt project or events reinstalling X and safebooting won’t help, since it will always try to open that corrupt project. If you have all your projects connected and open X, a corrupt project will cause painful beach balling and bring X to crash…
I would start by hiding the project you deleted files from, you can use Event Manager X for this. Then open X and it should open your intact projects, its very unlikely that all your projects are corrupted.

I doubt it, my mpg streamclip keeps on giving me the missing component window.
On apple’s page it says that the component is included in QT X and can not be installed seperately on Lion.
I use my G5 +Mpeg Streamclip for ripping, never had issues with VOB files. It seems that QT X component is missing something…

Interesting… I had to buy it for my G5, with Legacy installed and pro apps plugin + Roxio Popcorn…I don’t have Toast.

Hey Bret, you need to buy it. FCP Legacy doesn’t have it. There should be a link on Apple’s website. 30 bucks.
I have it on my G5 since I still use it for ripping, once in a while.

I had this issue a few days ago. Simply re-importing didn’t work, everytime I opened FCP the footage was offline again.
I deleted the clips from the events, ignoring the warning that these clips are in use. Then I reimported again, sofar that event hasn’t given me any more problems.
Yesterday I duplicated a small event that had some offline compounds. The new event is online.

If I need perfect linear movement I use the Ken Burns crop as well. It never felt like a workaround to me since it does what it’s supposed to do, but now that you mentioned it I do wonder again why this isn’t possible with Xs Keyframes.
I always thought the funky scale position was something normal, I do remember having had this problem in Legacy but perhaps it was some other issue that caused a similar problem.
After I started using 10.0.1, I landed a gig cutting internal videos for Coca Cola Germany and I used the spatial curves to ad some “handheld” movement, especially to the interviews.They wanted a trashy, MTV-style edit but the production team had shot static interviews. I felt I needed more than just a camera shake. They loved what I did with it, and thats when I started liking X keyframing for this particular style.
At Promiflash I use the spatial curves to give fashion and star pics a more organic movement, as if pics are being thrown into the image or drop down, or images bouncing off of each other. The other two editors just learned X…Interesting enough the Avid editor has less problems with certain X bugs than the the FCP7 guy, who seems to be struggling based on his animations. The Avid editor doesn’t like linear, so once I showed her where the spatial curves were she was very happy, but I guess an Avid editor has no reason to be pissed at Apple:-)
