November 22, 2013 at 2:40 pm in reply to: Problem with Particle Trail and Short Motion PathHey Simon, thanks for the advice. That was the next thing I was going to try, I kind of liked the shape I got with the emitter, let’s see what I can figure out.
By the way, I really had fun with your particle collision tutorial last week. Next week I’ll be doing some lens flares 🙂

You probably need to convert the original mov to ProRes. I had a problem a few months ago, where making a still from one frame of the mov simply created one from a different frame i didn’t click on. In this case the assistant had converted the mov from a power point file and gave me a mov with a weird framerate, something like 36 fps… Once i made the ProRes from that everything worked as usual

I just used FCP7 on a Retina MacBookPro. Other that a few minor beach ballers during editing everything worked well. The funny things was that I didn’t have one single crash, and this was at the place I always have FCP7 crash issues and corrupt projects when using their 12-Core Mac Pros, connected to the same server.

November 18, 2013 at 6:47 pm in reply to: how to get rid of mobile phone “dit dit dit” in audio on FCPxDid you try to do it subframe, or did you go frame by frame? I’ve been able to clean quite a few clicks and beeps with Xs subframe handling, If you need more precision Logic is the next option. I have more experience using ProTools on a basic level, working subframe there is of course much smoother than FCPX, and you do have many more tools you can fiddle with. Depending on how much of that cell phone noise you have, you’re probably going to have to live with some of it, or do some dialogue replacement by looking for the same words in other parts of the speech.

I actually don’t mind doing it that way, I like retiming in the timeline. What does bug me, though, is that certain clips extend too much and too fast in both directions when pulling the handles, it happens mostly with star-news footage downloaded from places like Videoplugger, h264 mp4 and movs.

No. You have to do it manually in the timeline.

The only thing I care about is that the the places I work at hopefully adopt X at some point, or at least install it on their systems, especially when they have Premiere, Avid and FCP7 anyway, and one of their best editors loves working with it…
Other than that i don’t care, I’m enjoying myself, and get to edit on three different systems on a regular basis.

Yes, one of the wonderful features X has. As long as you have decent sound on each camera it will sync whatever you throw at it, very usefull when dealing with sloppy footage…

You can turn them into favorites. then you don’t loose the in and outs. I haven’t done it during import yet, but it should work.
