Fit to Fill – does it currently exist?
Yet another thread (I wouldn’t be offended if I were banned now – that would be a fair cop) but I was wondering if there is a way to perform a simple fit-to-fill edit in FCPX. I have looked online and there doesn’t seem to be a way of doing it short of manually re-timing the clip in the timeline.

That’s the only way I have found so far.
Mark a range in the borwser, add the clip, open the retime (command-r) and drag to time. I find it easiest to do this as a connected clip first, then overwrite to primary storyline (if that’s where it needs to be).
If someone has an easier way, I am all ears!

Yep. Hopefully enough people have complained… er… sent feedback about it so it gets implemented/improved at some point…

I actually don’t mind doing it that way, I like retiming in the timeline. What does bug me, though, is that certain clips extend too much and too fast in both directions when pulling the handles, it happens mostly with star-news footage downloaded from places like Videoplugger, h264 mp4 and movs.
