Yup ! yuh got that right. Im just happy i have a serious option with My kona now….. sorry but i love my Kona.
Just hope its as easy to set up like FCP7 with “easy setups”
At least i can open my old FCP projects by XML-ing them into MC.Does the DNX codec have a 444 version like prores that can handle alphas ?

Ok ! When I read the info it said primary grading so I thought it would not have secondaries and shapes etc.

Im in a very similar dilemma Stuart:
problem is Scratch is way more expensive (although i dont think the price is too bad)and it doesn’t use either BMD or AJA or any pro video card for that matter. Just the QuadroFX SDI daughter card from nVidia. other than that you’ll have to use the second Dual link DVI out of your card

The files on the D7000 Are h.264 .mov files. FCP7 does not like h.264 files for editing. Yes you need to transcode the files to a format thats compatible with FCP7 . prores is definitely an option and may very well be the best one but you should know the final output for your project and what codec will fit your needs best.
That said .. i own a D7000 which i love dearly, there are a few quirks but i live with them. I use MPEG STREAM CLIP to transcode to Prores 422 or 422HQ depending on what im doing.

Yes i meant for recording the output of the HDMI.
As the guys here said monitoring works just fine, sorry id prefer to have an outboard recorder with prores/dnx/uncompressedjust my preference. if i cant have it well so be it but id try to get it
