What frame rates actually come out the HDMI port. Last i heard HDMI does not support pSf yet… I own a D7000 and 1080i and 720p 576p & 480p comes out …. no 1080p.
Of course i intend to get a PIX240 with My 800 so i can cross convert if necessary but……. id prefer to have it native …. anyone have any knowledge on this ?

hey guys
Rob … whats crackin ?Ill have to lean toward the D800 out of the gate for this one…. one major factor is uncompressed out HDMI ……
Technically from what ive read …. its a superior camera in a few regards …..
the 8bit thing does not bother me too much ….. use the camera for jobs that can afford it. buy yourself a PIX 240 or 220 and have some fun.
just be careful with what you put in front the lens … have a matte box and proper ND’s and polars etc….. have as much control as possible and believe me the 8bit thing will not even be an issue.
i used a D7000 now as well on small stuff , i find it a bit noisy at times but when u have control and set up properly its a non issue

February 7, 2012 at 10:54 pm in reply to: External Recording on DSLR-myth or reality?Hey guys:
I dont see 8bit out HDMI as opposed to 10 bit out sdi on a DSLR missing the mark at all.
ITS A DSLR for Christ sakes it wont have SDI anyway …. these things are STILL cameras that can do video really well.
Even the $16K C300 gives 8bit out its SDI.
I think the D4 and now D800 will be forces to recon with and lets wait to see what canon and panasonic come up with next.
But for now they are the only two DSLR cameras that offer true clean uncompressed output via HDMI albeit in 8bit. Ill get it in a heartbeat
