September 21, 2010 at 12:51 pm in reply to: Having problems when rendering in Sony VegasTry finding someone with 64 bit windows and 64 bit Vegas. Pop your entire project onto a portable hard disk. Open the project and when Vegas complains of missing video files, point it to your HDD. It will find the rest of the media. Render the project, and when it works (and I am pretty certain it will as I have had this issue on a number of occasions), reward the person with a carton of beer or a bottle of wine 🙂

Like Alf Hanna, I was extremely disappointed not to see the accelerated preview issue resolved. It worked fine in SVP8 but not in SVP9. Even hooking up to secondary 30″ monitor is not helping me and I have to put up with the fuzzy setting. Having to edit in draft mode or preview mode (at best) is crazy on an i7 920 system.
Adobe CS5 is looking more and more appealing… .

September 18, 2010 at 7:29 am in reply to: Having problems when rendering in Sony VegasI get this a lot as well, but get around it by rendering in the 64-bit version of Sony Vegas Pro. This assumes you are able to run/install Vegas on a 64-bit version of Windows…

You could try Pinnacle Movie Box HD (although I cannot get them in Australia)
You could try contacting the supplier or eBAY.
In Australia, only medium to high end laptops have firewire, eSATA Xpresscard slots and USB 3 🙁
I did manage to recently pickup an ASUS N61JQ-ZBD-JX002V 16″ Notebook for AUD$1300 that had USB 3 and eSATA, but I did have to add on an XpreeCard for firewire for an extra AUD$69.
I know exactly how frustrated Jared is feeling. I work in IT and senior management occasionally makes purchases based purely on budget and expect us to integrate them into the environment.

Thanks Adrian for the tip, although I might not pass on the comments to the owner/operator about the NX5 being cr*p :-). Personally, I still use the Z1P and FX1 tape based cameras, and get great results. I dabbled with AVCHD, but it hammers Sony Vegas Pro 9 unless you create an intermediary file.

Looks like some application may have installed it for you in the past. I had the same problem on my new laptop with the Park Avenue BT font.
I don’t think it is a standard windows font. If you Google it and download it and then copy it to C:\Windows\Fonts, it should then be available to Vegas.

September 9, 2010 at 3:35 am in reply to: Audioclip wont play the last few seconds? Very weird problem! When playing back in either view, does the audio from the problem track cut out as suddenly as the second image you posted suggests?
Does windows media player play the mp3 correctly?
I would try re-ripping the audio from the original source if it ends abruptly in both instances. Perhaps something interrupted the ripping process.

Sorry, I meant since Vegas version 9, smooth previews have eluded me. 8 was fine.

Since Version 8, smooth previews in Sony Vegas has eluded me… even on my i7-920 desktop system * sigh *
I don’t need the 2nd drive in my laptop as my desktop has 5… . I did make sure the laptop supports USB 3 and e-SATA, though… .
Be aware that most low end (i.e. sub $1,000) laptops have a cut down or mobile friendly version processor. I did consider an i7 8* series laptop, but it was an extra AUD$1,000. I use the laptop for demos and roadshows, and the desktop for my main editing.

September 7, 2010 at 2:13 pm in reply to: Importing multicam nested project causes Vegas 9 Pro to hangThanks John
I think I worked out what is causing it. The multicam project had an audio file that was missing on the drive, as you correctly pointed out. It was at one time in the project media bin but no longer on the time line. I had used it and later removed it from the time line, but not the media bin. I must have deleted it in explorer after I had closed Vegas, but not then re-opened the project.
It appears that when I then tried to nest the veg file, Vegas was checking the assets in the media library but was unable to display the standard error “Some Streams in the Media File could not be opened…” when files are nested.
I discovered this when I re-opened the multicam project and removed the no longer existing file from the media library. A gotcha to watch out for in future.
