    Great!

I’ll just transcode them to DNxHD120.

    Thanks a lot.

    Thanks Shane!

The problem is that each file has a slightly different rate, since they are coming from and iPhones… They vary from 19.4 to 24.5

If I know that I would never come back to the AMA’d files, isn’t it ok to just transcode to 25 fps and forget about the originals?

What would a good data ratio be to keep the maximum quality from a H.264 with a data rate of around 20 Mbits/s?

    Have a nice weekend!

April 3, 2012 at 7:08 pm in reply to: Problem linking “SOME” AMA volumes

AMA just ignores some of the folders inside “CONSENTS”
There were folders names CLIPS001, CLIPS002 and so on.
I just created fresh new parent folders for them and seems to work.

An other thing is that, when I couldn’t mount the full volumes, I tried linking xmf files one by one. It worked but then in the bin I had small (2 GB) files named NAME01, NAME02, NAME03 etc. They were like pieces of a bigger take. Would that give us problem to online them?

I just started the whole process from the beginning. It’s more comfortable to work with the “real takes”.

Thanks again. I am slowly (but happily) moving back into AVID

    Best.

    Thanks a lot Shane,
It’s always confusing to figure out what would keep the best balance between quality and performance. I will try that.

April 3, 2012 at 11:06 am in reply to: AVID transcode walkaround

    Thanks for the tip, Daniel.
    It’s indeed much faster.
But sometimes I have issues to link back to the original “camera files”, and I am afraid that this will cause problems in the online.
    What I do:

    1. Import/link with AMA
    2. ALT+Drag files to a new BIN
    3. Consolidate to my Avid MediaFiles

But when both bins are open, some files links to different locations.

Is this normal? Would you suggest a different workflow?

    Thanks!

    Thanks Michael!

But wouldn’t consolidate take as much time as transcoding?

    I will check that video.

    Best!
