awesome…I’ve been wondering about this for some time too…

  • Why the hell can’t they actually say which features wont work? They must know what they are? Surely it’s in their interests?

Dude, as soon as every action sequence started, it was suddenly sunset and the heroes looked wistfully past the camera while a lovely golden lens flare flickered behind their dramatic faces. Then the robots attacked. This happened about 500 times 🙂

you could lay out the arrows flat, then precomp them and apply cc cylinder to the comp…I reckon that could work.

I thought I read here that if you try and run any plugin that’s not universal binary in AECS3 then it will force the whole shebang to run under rosetta, and thus like a dog? Is that not the case?

have you tried bouncing the sound out of the clip from another application in a different format?

Like maybe opening the video clip in avid then bouncing out the audio as a wav or something, then bringing the file into AE? So then AE isn’t trying to read the audio from the video clip…

maybe turn off live update as well. But yeah proxies will help the most. And switch off motion blur and any other complex effects until you render your final movie.

FCP is definitely your best bet for editing – it’s the shizzle. Editing in AE will only bring you sorrow and heartache.

As far as automatic duck goes, if you’re sending large parts of your edits to AE and still need some degree of control over them (I do lots of long greenscreen interviews with edits the often need rolling around for example), then it will really, really help you out workflow-wise.

There is a little script here that does a similar thing, but not with so many features. Give it a go…
