  • Mussel Flash Tutorial or Free High-Res Footage

Posted by Chazmeister on August 10, 2007 at 2:33 am

    Hi all.

Can someone direct me to any tutorial on creating a mussel flash from scratch inside After Effects 7.0?

Better yet….. Is someone out there kind enough to send me some high-res footage of mussel flashes in different poistions? (I cannot afford to pay for such at this time.)

Your help would really be appreciated, as I really need this ASAP.

    Thanks in advance.

    Chaz

P.S. I still would like to learn how to create mussel flashes from scrath.

ANDREW KRAMER…. I sent you an email a few days ago.

Go to Andrew’s tutorial page at Videocopilot.net, and check out tutorial 21. If it doesn’t have exactly what you’re looking for, it should get you headed in the right direction.

There’s some free explosion stuff here…

Not exactly stellar quality but may be worth a punt.

    Thanks guys.

Will look into the toots. I downloaded the low-res samples from the detonation site, but I need these to be high-res and 24P. Guess I can render these out to 24P, but still need them to be high-res.

The tutorial on YouTube seems like a good one. Since I do not speak French, I had a hard time figuring out what the guy what doing. The overall bluriness did not help any. I did pick up on a few things though.

    Another other toots out there?

    Thnx

When at the beach last week I to experienced several “mussel flashes”. Usually they flash you individually, but a whole rock wall, covered with mussels, flashed me in unison… knidof in a wave really. In Hi-Res, it’s such a shocking event I dropped my camera, so I suggest a steady-cam of a harness rig for your 24p-hiRes Camera Operator, because if he’s never experienced multiple “mussel flashes” he won’t get the shot.

    Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Since mussels are hermaphrodites, “mussel flashes” will shock camera operators of either gender, including cross gender camera operators. Even the unflappable observer, Alfred Kinsey, needed resuscitation after a seeking out “mussel flashes” for inclusion in his unpublished , Sexual Behavior in the Hermaphrodites (unpublished), following his landmark, Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (1948) and Sexual Behavior in the Human Female (1953).

So probably a robo-cam is you only hope of capturing “mussel flashes” in HD.

Sorry again, gotta go contact my therapist.

Buy Stu Machovic’s book DV Rebel’s guide – he has a script on the disk to create muzzel flashes from scratch.
