I am not near my system now but I have used CCC for some time with no issues. I have my own custom backup settings. If you’re using default settings you might see this issue. Consult the settings/docs or contact Bombich Software. Make sure you backup is going into a folder and not to the root of your backup drive because FCP can get confused by redundant event/projects.

You don’t have to compound a clip to do pans and zooms. You would simply keyframe its position and scale parameters. Unless I’m missing something in what it is you’re doing.

Place the layered PSD file on your timeline and trim to length. Hit Shift Comand G (Break apart clip items). Each PSD layer will be in its own layer. Apply all effects timed to audio or other video as necessary. Compound the PSD layers when you’re done if you want. I don’t find this necessary usually.

August 16, 2013 at 1:28 pm in reply to: Looking for best method to fetch just audio from the Event Library to cover an editI’ve mapped the key commands “Control Q” for connect video only and “Option Q” for connect audio only. Keeps everything tidy and easily accessible. Just watch out for “Command Q”! LOL

Select the clips you want to copy. Make them a compound clip (Option G). “Option Drag” the compound clip (which creates a copy) to the place you want it. Then break apart both compound clips (Shift Command G).
I use compound clips all the time as a way to move around large amounts of clips without them getting “rearranged”.

The same thing has happened to me. Fortunately I was able to un-do back to my original edit. I have sent feedback to apple suggesting the same thing you mentioned of a reminder or other option to help during those late night sessions.

July 19, 2013 at 11:19 pm in reply to: FCPX: Can’t Re-Import File With Same Name After Deleting.I have found you can update PSD files and have them update in FCP X as long as you don’t change the number of layers. If you do you have to save under a new name.

I’ve been using FCP X since it came out. I have not had any need to detach audio at all. I have done it but didn’t really have to. If I’m taking only audio from a clip, the video is usually covered by another video source on a connected clip or secondary storyline. In the odd occasion where it is not, it is pretty easy to set the video opacity to zero.

July 9, 2013 at 2:54 am in reply to: how to HOLD a keyframe in your timeline? very simple question but can’t find it in FCP X!A “hold” consists of two keyframes with the same values. The duration of the “hold” is set by the time between the two keyframes.
