sorry, copy/ paste attributes is the only way to do it within FCP.

there might be a way to do it via XML,
but you’d have to wait till you;d done all your clips, then do it.
i also think you’d need someone to write the app for you!

alternatively, you could automate the shortcuts and keystrokes in a Macro app such as QuicKeys.

if yes, then my guess is that is the problem,
and you should export a self contained QT movie, check the problem area, and then run that though Compressor.

that frame size looks like you have a 16/9 sequence with an ADDITIONAL anamorphic setting.
so you have a 16/9 image with black bars either side (pillar-boxed) in a cinema-scope style frame.

turn anamorphic OFF in that sequence.
if your image is still pillar-boxed, which it probably will be, then select all and remove attributes.

if you have attributes you want to keep (motion effects) then try just removing distortion.
if you do have to remove scale as well, then you’ll just have to re-build your motion effects,
so do this work on a COPY of the sequence.

if you keyframe colour values, this can determine the direction of the change around the colour wheel.

you can drop your data rate in the DVDSP preferences,
but 4.2 Hours might just be a bit too much.

you could be better off with 2 DVDs

one thing though:
if you could drop your audio data rate it could help more than you’d first think.
can you go to mono inside of stereo?
that’ll half your audio size.

i do this for the web, when it’s appropriate, but i’m not sure if you can do it for DVDs

are you talking about putting 9G worth of DV files (45minutes of running time)
onto DVD disks?

or are you saying you’re building a DVD and have 9g worth of already compressed m2v & ac3 files?

open one in viewer, go to motion tab, is everything normal?
you can reset controls with the red x buttons

what happens when you make a new sequence and edit a clip into it, and say YES to “match sequence to clip”

if the image is locked off, with no fg objects in front of the screen,
then a simple garbage matter will isolate the screen.

otherwise you might be able to use a luminance key.

flicker:
v hard to fix.
AE might have better tools, as suggested.

interesting suggestion re “smearing” the frames.
one of the FCP time-based filters may do that.
if Joe’s FIlters are still around, he had a “Time Smear” (not what he called it)
it superimposes adjacent frames to reduce video noise.
obviously it messes with movement.
